Marvel Posts Avengers: Endgame Trailer

I was not a big fan of Infinity War when I watched it at the cinema. I watched it recently and enjoyed it a lot more. Not sure why the change in tastes. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this one!
I think Chris Evan's complained he was getting tired of Captain America and wanted to start directing. Too bad, he is a great Steve Rogers. I hope they keep churning these movies out - I'm like a kid in a candy shop watching them.

I can hardly wait...the entire lineup of modern Marvel Studios flicks has been absofuckinglutely awesome.

I feel as if Doctor Strange has set some kind of time loop/trap right before he gave up the Time Stone to Thanos.
Speaking of which, Dr Strange completely blew away my expectations, and sits at the top of my list for favorite Marvel Avengers focused-character movies. Would love to see a sequel, but I don't think it'll happen (and isn't really needed with DS's integration into the main storyline Avengers movies).

Dr Strange sequel is already in the works. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls020226730/

Now that is great news. Cumberbatch is a perfect fit as Strange.

That's one thing I do give Marvel big props for, they pretty much nail the casting of the characters. In Cumberbatch's case they even waited because they wanted him over anyone else. Of course, they have pockets deep enough to get pretty much anyone they want, and being in the MCU at this point is still considered a major win on a resumè.

In a new Empire story, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson revealed Cumberbatch was the only actor Marvel seriously considered, which is why the studio decided to push the film back until he was available. Apparently, Cumberbatch already committed to performing in a stage play for Hamlet and couldn’t bail.

Marvel did meet with other actors, such as Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, and Ryan Gosling, but Derrickson was intent on seeing Cumberbatch play the role, so the movie’s original summer 2016 release was pushed back to its slot in November in order to accommodate the actor’s schedule.

According to Cumberbatch, he thought the role of a lifetime passed him by when he initially had to turn Marvel down. But the studio kept their faith in the actor, which Cumberbatch says motivated him to play the best damn Doctor Strange he could play.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.

I was thinking "they can't be serious" during every second of this trailer. What the hell did I just watch

No I was serious. I am excited to conclude the story and also happy they didn't spoil a ton of crap just for a trailer. They kill suspense and suprise by showing too much info in a trailer. A trailer isn't even needed for this. You either hated the previous so you won't go see this or you liked the first so you will go to see part 2. They literally could have had just a logo/title reveal and a date would be enough.

Meh..only watched the first one and haven't seen any reason to see them since. I guess I just don't care for most of the avengers. Honestly to me at least, GoTG is the only decent IP Marvel has and well Disney fucked that up so..meh.

Whether you like the movies or not, you have to appreciate the sheer scale of this franchise. This simply hasn't been done before. The number of films, the continuity of the characters (seriously, Rhodes is like the only character who hasn't been played by the same actor), the scale of the main storyline. We're witnessing history here and this film will likely be the final chapter in this book (yes, there are other movies in the making but this will effectively wrap up everything that began in 2008). The odds of being able to pull something like this off weren't great and yet the formula was found and executed to damn near perfection. You have to give respect to Marvel and the late Stan Lee for bringing the comics to the big screen in a way that resonated with the audience. We live in a time where bringing comics, games or other pieces of fiction to hollywood almost never goes well and yet they have masterfully done this for ten years with almost every single film being a success. No matter what happens in the Endgame, Marvel deserves the utmost respect for what they've accomplished.

Very much this. There is nothing even remotely close to the scale of the MCU in terms of movies. The Harry Potter franchise and Lord of the Rings movies are the only things that even make a blip on the radar next to the MCU and even they have nothing on what Disney and Marvel have accomplished.

Too bad the movie was dull as hell. It was practically a scene for scene remake of Iron Man to. Watch the Honest Trailers video to see what I mean. I'm not sure how Marvel gets rave reviews. Some of the movies (like Captain America) are pretty good, others like Dr. Strange are phoned in generic plots.

I'll certainly watch this film but will probably not watch anything further for a while. With crap like Ant Man & Dr. Strange I don't see them putting out the same quality as they did in the past. Only so much you can do to milk generic, no name super hero comic books I suppose.

I know most don't care, but I feel bad watching Valve (I assume they oversee development of this game now) essentially do a "me to!" update. Remember when they used to set trends? How far they've fallen. With the mass exodus of Steam from AAA developers to this I can't help but feel Valve really is a shell of its former self. Wish they'd come out with some quality games, state of the art game engine technology and some good ideas again.

My best guess is you are trying to post in this: https://hardforum.com/threads/the-epic-games-store-is-now-live.1973178/ thread.

Yet another Avengers movie? The one with the bad robot was already barely worth my time. I can't even force myself to watch the one after that.

G'damn Hubble Space Telescope. Thanks to it, nebulae are always depicted as these easily seen clouds of glowing colorful clown puke.

In Cumberbatch's case they even waited because they wanted him over anyone else.

Wasn't that role offered to Joaquin Phoenix but at that time he did not want to mess with that much green screen acting?

Others have turned down Marvel as well.

I can’t wait. 2/3 of my kids have yet to see Infinity War. I think I’ll have them watch it right before this one.

Well, I for one am thankful you took the time to share your feelz here about the upcoming one.
I'm sorry that someone having a different opinion bothers you so bad that you just can't let it go unanswered.

Says the person that clicked on a Marvel Posts Avengers: Endgame thread knowing he could not stand them. So, why waste your time here, Spielberg?

I was under the impression that this was a news article. I'd not have clicked had I known that this is actually a safe place for marvel movie fans.

Are you trying to win an argument by insults? When did that strategy ever work?

BTW nobody tried to insult me by calling me spielberg yet :p

Haha! Figured you might be Spielberg since he goes off on his anti-Marvel rants. I mean, AOU was released in 2015. I could understand it if you didn't like IW, but 2015's AOU? Their formula hasn't changed all that much so you know you're not going to like it.

Now, get off my lawn and by lawn I mean safe space... :cautious:

TBH, I actually liked the first few marvel movies. Including the first avengers, iron man 1-2. But the exact problem is that the formula never changed since. So it kind of got boring. I liked Deadpool, but hated deadpool 2. When a series tries to milk the exact same concept too much without adding anything new it doesn't work for me.
If they only did one movie from each. Then they'd be all great.

Agreed. But I didn't hate 2, 1 was way better though. The kid story line was meh. Cable was under developed and used.

I'm tired of all the origin stories. Not too excited for Captain Marvel because of this.

They have something like 20 more in the works. Going to be crazy for a while. If you dislike the MCU then the DC movies must drive you nuts. With a few exemptions, those are garbage.

I didn't fall asleep, but only so many three-point landings a movie can reasonably show in the span of 2hrs before it tips the scale into self-parody. I realize I'm an outlier but it's really only the banter between human actors that keeps me going. When the antagonists are superimposed cartoon characters with a gold glove from Burger King and corny dialog, it breaks continuity let alone makes it impossible to consider them menacing. And 3D animation still hasn't solved the uncanny-valley problem of running movements and fight scenes looking too abrupt and disjointed and sped up; its like watching a videogame cutscene.

They couldn't have telegraphed it more obviously -- Dr. Strange has a plan to make this movie a 2hr Undo button on Infinity War's ending, bringing everyone back and rendering the entire previous exercise meaningless.

/Debbie Downer

Anybody could have guessed that when Strange ran through all those timeline scenarios to see if Thanos could be defeated and only came up with one winning timeline. It's more about the journey to get to the ending even if knowing it for a lot of movies. We already had our "Battle Royale" so nothing wrong with trying something else. Be a downer if you want but the rest of us will have enjoyed the journey to get there.

Age of Ultron was a bit of a mess. A lot of issues revolving around disagreements between the Whedon brothers and Kevin Feige, along with Joss Whedon himself being a bit burnt out from the process of effectively acting as a script doctor and the big ideas guy for every MCU movie from Thor onward on top of needing to direct AoU. It just led to the movie being a troubled production that never lived up to the potential it had. Infinity War was a much, much, better movie.

Yeah the story line in general reminded me of the movie Looper, kid grows up becomes crime lord that destroys everything in site guy from the future comes back to try and fix it.

The CGI on Thanos and Proxima Midnight was really deep in the uncanny valley for me and the whole story is basically just a teaser for a sequel. It's not a bad movie though.

Marvel is really good at origin stories, but outside of Thor: Ragnarok none of the sequels have risen above the origin story. Same thing with the mashup movies. The Avengers was fantastic, the sequels are kinda meh.

These sequels tend to lose a bit of the suspense with every preview. I know what happens with the original story line, but i was hoping they wouldn't show anything until it's released...

Wish they would start doing origin stories on the bad guys. They seem to only do solo films for the good guys. That's something different they could do

IW almost served as an origin for Thanos, at least as close as they've gotten to doing an origin story for the "villain".

Getting bored of the Avengers movies and superhero movies in general after watching so many of them. It is the same plot rehashed over and over.
