I vote F for "Fun" because I only buy and play fun games. Which, is probably also the main purpose of a... GAME

I learned more about golf playing Mario Golf, with many grains of salt and not everything will match up. But they had match play and links courses, etc. that I didn't really think about in 2005.

What's the purpose of cinema or music? To inform, entertain, perhaps even enlighten? You get what you will out of any media really. I play video games because it's a great way to turn the brain off and have a bit of fun after a long day of having to talk to people via phone or email, or generally having to think/do shit all day without rest.

I wouldn't know the answer to this question, for I play Computer games. :pompous:

Silly thread made tongue in cheek, I assume. Ironically, it is a good question. Games these days are less about fun. It seems games have lost sight of what their whole point of existence. Now days they're purely cut/paste games designed to stretch hour played count, so the marketing guys can tell you "what a great value" you got.

A good example: Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Gameplay to chore ratio 1 to 5 hours, at best. Cut/paste map? Check. 15-30 minutes to travel from point A to B? Check. Same repeating tasks over and over again? Check. Mundane tasks required of the player constantly, like picking up mushrooms and apples? Check. Want to go there? Too bad, you need to do this. Have another quest? Okay, run here, it will take you 45 minutes. Okay, want to do something else? Too bad, because you need to do this first.

If the game is supposed to be a critique of modern work life they did a good job with it. The problem is, all games have turned into the same mess with few exceptions.

Remember when games were supposed to be fun? You'd do something cool. If you wanted a game with swords in it, you'd spend most of your time using them. They used to put as much detail into sword fighting as possible. Same with shooters. Now it is based around collecting crap and running around barren maps with no purpose. Unless people consider apple picking and basic chores interesting, games have stopped being fun and have become marketing gimmicks for "hours played".

Dumb thread ends up not being so dumb after all.

You finished every indie game? Did you play Capsized and The Swapper? Hollow Knight? Trine 2?

Heroes of the Storm has no items to collect. Your team destroys buildings and gains collective XP.
