Hello,

my Windows 10 + 5400RPM HDDs built in search is too slow to be effectively used, even in "indexed" locations.

i was thinking about some replacement that can show results (file names search, not content search - that i do not need much) maybe instantly or about disabling indexing of files content (for important large media files i checked this is already disabled and all drives has it disabled for in their properties (do not know if i applied it to the subdirs. i hope so, i am unwilling to try as my HDD has more than million files i think) already but though if i can speedup search by disabling content indexing (only file names indexing enabled) for all file types, though have not found any hack to do it in bulk.

Update:
software called "Everything" allows instant search as i type and indexed the drive quite fast in a few minutes. It allows to bookmark favorite searches and create custom lists of files.
Second software is WinCatalog and i have not yet tried it
Third software, untested by me UltraSearch
Fourth SW (untested by me) MasterSeeker

Windows 10 search is not only slow as molasses, but transmits all your searches to Microsoft as part of its data collection.

Heh we're not talking about 'apps' in Windows10. Third party applications that do search 1000x more efficiently than windows itself.
