Is IEEE-1394 even a thing anymore?

I'm looking to build a new rig and still need to pull video off of DV cameras which use firewire. Am I stuck having to purchase a PCI card to get a firewire port on a new rig?

Thanks.

Newer motherboards don't integrate IEEE-1394 ports anymore. The port never gained popularity outside of the AV world. I probably haven't seen one of those ports on a motherboard for the better part of 10 years. You will need to get a PCI-Express IEEE-1394 card if you have a need for Firewire compatibility.

I can't quite be 10 years, since my current rig is about 5 years old and has one... But, thanks for the response and link. At $19 the question was barely worth asking!

EDIT TO ADD: Checked...ASUS Sabertooth Z77, from 2012, so 6 years! (I guess that is *almost* "the better part of" 10 years, afterall)

I haven't seen a IEEE-1394 port built into a motherboard regularly for the bulk of the last ten years. How's that? :D
