Give ASUS huge props for its usual marketing skills, but I know for certain that Paul and I want to get one of these on the load tester and put it up against the like of recent 1200 watt PSUs we have reviewed. The Platinum rated ROG THOR PSU certainly has our interest piqued. It even has a current wattage output meter on it according to Akihabara.

ASUSTeK Computer (Headquarters: Taiwan) held the ROG event for the media ahead of the opening of "COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2018" on June 4, 2018. Announced the 80 PLUS PLATINUM certified power supply unit "ROG THOR" corresponding to ASUS "Aura Sync" function .

Asus makes good stuff for other fields, can't hurt to have more quality psu's to choose from.

Is this the first Asus PSU? I'd just assumed they must have been out there, somewhere, along with every other conceivable part needed to build a PC.

This is the first ASUS PSU I've ever heard of. At this point you can damn near build a PC using only ASUS hardware.

I did a quick stocktake of my PC inventory after I saw the article.

Monitor - PB328Q
Sound - Xonar Essence One
DVDRW - Rando Asus drive
Mobo - P8Z77M-Pro
Router - AC88U

My last monitor and soundcard were both Asus too, and I have an Asus laptop somewhere in the house. They're EVERYWHERE.

After ASUS dropped the ball on the Xonar Phoebus drivers, I vowed never to buy another sound card from ASUS again. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of their other hardware but screw their audio cards. I like a lot of ASUS hardware though. I even like the sound cards, I just hate how poorly they supported them.
