Razer, the company that makes gaming mice, keyboards etc has launched a digital PC game shop...the Razer Game Store sells codes for other stores such as Steam and Uplay, and there are some interesting deals to kick things off on games like Far Cry 5, Ni No Kuni 2, Wolfenstein 2, Assassin's Creed: Origins etc...

I was really pleased to see that unlike Twitch, Razer's gamestore isn't a proprietary separate storefront and actually sells keys usable on other platforms. Overall I'm pleased - its good to have another reputable store which will (presumably) have its own sales and discounts. Its deals aren't too bad thus far, with the "exclusive" deals possibly offering some of the better ones; the "bonuses" may very well make it worthwhile. Some of the other deals aren't bad, in line with other sale prices I've seen, but I'll have to see if they can do better than Humble Store (which has the benefit of an additional 10% off, stacking, for Humble Monthly Bundle subscribers, plus an additional 5% Humble credit "cashback style" for every sale. Also, much of the time Humble offers both a direct download and a Steam/GOG/Uplay key, ) or GreenManGaming which has some really extraordinary sales and discounts. Still I welcome Razer to the market in the hopes they do things correctly

Yeah I noticed this today while booting my Razer Cortex almost have 5000 silver coins along way to go for that 20000 I need for a keyboard wrist rest =) 40 silver coins per login everyday it's a grind not sue if it's worth it. I don't use the program except to Free up memory for game which is unnecessary since I have 32 gigs.

twitch was basically forced into it because people were selling the codes on fleabay.. so it was either the game had to go through the twitch client or implement the twitch api into their website/game..

Hmm? I can't really see how that could make a big difference. Do you mean the Twitch Prime content or whatnot? Lots of people resell codes and Twitch all ready has a means to redeem exclusively to linked accounts (ie Steam, Ubi, Battle.Net etc) if absolutely necessary. I really think the whole thing was justified by the fact they want to be their on insular store that requires the use of their own insular client, separate from Steam, GOG and the like. https://www.twitch.tv/store/games/ . This means yet another platform that developers have to maintain (ie updates have to be pushed separately, DLC and other content have to be sold/work with this particular version etc) and Iv'e already seen more than a few times when comparing the Steam edition to GOG (which I believe to be the most extensive of alternate platforms), the GOG version has been inferior - missing DLC/content, updated slower, in some cases lacking or segregating multiplayer and in some cases not supporting other OSes than Windows (Twitch is particularly frustrating here because their Twtich Client is Windows exclusive, so even if a game has a Linux version you don't get it for the same money on Twitch. Consider PunchClub for instance) And of course, having the game on one platform/store like this doesn't mean you can register it to use another of your choice!

Twitch is particularly irritating for a number of reasons like those above, but even worse is that they are now owned by Amazon and Amazon already sells games directly and typically as a key reseller. They could have very easily made a Twitch themed UI that hooked into the backend of Amazon digital sales, (and for that matter, gave the same discounts on digital games they do to physical ones when it comes to Prime members - a sore spot and one that if remedied would help launch their store bigtime) and make all the various Twitch integration/chests etc... while still selling Steam and other keys. But no, they did the worst possible combination of all worlds, building on frustration from absorbing Curse and its Client, then not even porting the Twitch Client itself to Linux and OSX. Worst of all they easily, easily have the budget to do things right on both the Twitch and Amazon sides! I ask that anyone with even a passing interest in gaming, Amazon, or Twitch try to make their displeasure known.

Razer by comparison, though worthy of critique in other areas, seems to have at least taken the right path here. Sure, they maintain their "razer coins" or whatever and Cortex, but they are at least allowing them to sell keys for standard, viable platforms.
