Bitcoin's Blockchain Loaded with Child Pornography

Researchers at RWTH Aachen University in Germany claim to have found 274 links to child pornography while investigating what financial data has been stashed within the blockchain according to a report from PCMag. in a paper that was presented at a conference earlier this month, in which the researchers also state that a pornographic image, possibly of a minor was also embedded into the blockchain, which theoretically could make Bitcoin illegal to possess in 112 countries.

If true this certainly makes for an interesting twist into the legality of Bitcoin, as well as possibly the future of cryptocurrency as a whole.

Among the data was the child pornographic content found in three files; the 274 links were lists that directed to sites found on the Dark Web. The researchers also uncovered six wedding-related images, 609 transactions containing public chat logs, emails and forum posts discussing Bitcoin and money laundering, in addition to backups of WikiLeaks data.
 
That's because quite a few of these people WANTED it to be preserved and found.

Look how people reacted to the Silk Road raid and how token amounts of bitcoin with protest messages were sent to the FBI's wallet.

Nope. Some people get to pick and choose what medium they get to ban. Killing people with various weapons? Person goes to jail, it's bad. Use a gun? Ban guns. Child porn on blockchain? Get rid of Bitcoin. Child porn on the internet? Find and remove the source.

It's all about an agenda. If people want Bitcoin gone (banks, etc..), then things like this will be used against it. I have usually gone against the whole "They have an agenda...". But, more and more I've been seeing it with different things. Mostly where they choose to point the finger and who/what is the scapegoat.

You know what? I am ok with bitcoin dying so GPU prices can come back down to sane levels...
 
If theres truly honest to God child porn contained within the blockchain, well it could be fucked. What's to differentiate between a physical storage device in someone's possession with cp on it or the blockchain which is essentially a virtual storage medium akin to a VHD.

It’s a very old story.

Jews have historically been moneylenders, because interest is a bad thing for Christians to charge.

I would also like to point out that 112 countries is only about 57% of the world.
 
Blockchain is also bad for the environment. Excavation sites aren't exactly pretty. Lately they've started building ghost cities on top of the empty mines. I've heard the stories but I don't believe there were any mutants left after the militia took over.

Bitcoin isn't mined directly via GPU's. Yes, you can run Nicehash, etc. or mine ETH or other coins and trade them for BTC. But, the days of GPU or CPU mining of BTC is long over.

Of course, I'm being picky. I know what you mean (cryptocurrency in general). :)
 
Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies need to go away. Here is why....

1 - Bitcoin is bad for the environment. I know this because I have done all the research to show that bitcoin users way more energy than the entire global banking system including moving money around in trucks and flying it to Iran.

2 - No criminal, let alone someone who like child porn has ever used fiat currency.

3 - Because GPUs are used to mine bitcoin, I want to play my video games.

I'm not sure where that cockamamie idea that it is bad for Christians to charge interest on loans came from. Jesus himself used it as an example in the story of the master, servants and talents. Yeah, I know it was in Jewish culture, but that makes no difference.

Excuse me, but how can an images file got embedded into bitcoin's blockchain? Was my understanding that blockchain completely wrong?

That's an internet site, if you downloaded the whole of it and pissed someone off at a three letter agency then you would be on the hook for the content on your local machine.

bitcoin wallets are held online, they're just "internet sites".

This has nothing to do with wallets, it's embedded into the blockchain its self. Which needs to be downloaded either in full or partially to mine.

Also you can put bitcoins in local storage negating the need for an online wallet.

Not defending the guy you quoted (he misspelled "pogrom" for one thing) but in Christian theology usury was long considered a sin (theft). (in Judaism it is considered similarly for Jews but not for non-Jews/gentiles, hence the prevalence of Jewish moneylenders a la Shylock)

The Metadata
The metadata or message that you are going to insert has a maximum size of 80 bytes. The metadata is stored in the OP_RETURN part of the transaction which was made possible in Bitcoin 0.9.

1 Character is 1 byte. The 80 bytes is enough to store a SHA1 (40 bytes) finger print of some document if you wanted plus another 40 bytes to get creative with.

This doesnt limit you to 80 bytes either. You could easily write an encoder/decoder that looked for specific sequence ids inside that 80 bytes and then use them to reconstruct a message/photo/etc. Granted it could get expensive but if youre doing something shady like hiding CP I dont think you are concerned with a few transaction fees.
 
This is what I don't understand about block-chain. If it's this easy to find this stuff and people want to spread my info all over the internet in block-chain everything--why is this a good thing? It's just distributed computing and it doesn't even look very secure if they can see these links.

So My post isn't worth defending because I misspelled a word? why would you think it needed defending in the first place, I knew wtf I was talking about, even if the person that you replied to didn't have a clue.

The Roman Catholic "church" is NOT Christian despite what it claims to be.

It is a mother/child worship system in which they have Mary as the mediator between man and Jesus.. which is heresy.

That system gained it's massive wealth by selling "penance" which is also heresy. (Pay us money to buy your way into Heaven).

And it is a work based religion which is also in direct opposition to what the Bible teaches.

It is in no way, shape or form Christian.
