Microsoft Wants to Force Windows 10 Mail Users to Open Links in Edge

Windows 7 & 8.1 aren't going to last forever. I'm happy to blast Microsoft on this one, I think t's a fucking stupid idea and I actually use this mail app. Personally I don't think I've had any more problems with Windows 10 than prior versions and we are migrating to it at work. Looks like our group is on the radar this summer.

I'm honestly at a loss here. What I am supposed to use on my PCs that supports all that I do and isn't an obsolete version of Windows that's going away and doesn't work as well on tablets and convertibles. I just what the OS that works for all that I do without all the nonsense.

Windows 7 & 8.1 don't need to last forever. They only need to last long enough for MS to either fix the major complaints about 10, or build a proper "coke classic" successor to 7.

7 is supported two more years, 8.1 is supported five more. Both support the latest hardware including Coffee Lake - though MS tries to cockblock that with an 'unsupported' popup to intimidate non-techies.

Im sure they'll backtrack on this Mail/Edge thing and pat themselves on the back for listening to their fans, but with each one of these scandals and tolerance tests they engender more animosity.

Good god man... how many iterations of this sort of behavior are we going to go through before Microsoft realizes that we simply don't want to use their browser? Try being a little more subtle, like opening links in a browser nested in Outlook, instead of launching them separately in Edge. At least then we might feel like the experience is neutered for a reason.

Good thing that I do not use the Mail App. I do use Edge along side with chrome, firefox, and IE 11 though.

That sort of stuff has always been a dream come true for attackers. Download random shit from internet (called e-mail) to your computer, inviting the payload in. Then have a process that automatically opens the attack payload for you (Outlook and preview). Then have outlook link to other libraries to maximise the potential to find a flaw. Gotta love it.

So what does Gmail do on mobile? I get a nested view, that isn't Chrome, when I open links. I should point out, we aren't talking preview, we are talking deliberate clicks on links.
