For sale is a 4x4GB kit of Corsair Vengeance PRO DDR2400 CMY8GX3M2A2400C11R.

All sticks have been tested and function fine. The reason I am selling is because I bought the two kits separately and when I added the second kit, I discovered that my board has a faulty RAM slot and would make the system unstable to the point I could barely stream video online.

I tried all 4 sticks in two configurations of only 2 at a time. In one set of slots all sticks operate great. In the other set of slots, no sticks operate great, so it's definitely the board.

Because of this, I have instead purchased a 2x8 kit and am putting my 4x4 kit up for sale.

Price is $100 SHIPPED!

Did you ever try boosting the voltage up on the VTT? Also a bit confusing, would it work fine with just 2 sticks in either the A or B slots?

I have seen the VTT setting in my bios but was unsure exactly what it did.

Any combination of the 4 sticks will work fine in the B slots. Any combination of any sticks in the A slots is when the system goes unstable.

That blows, I'd return that board.

I had the problem last night. Thought gee, must be my Mobo bc Everytime I try to set XMP it dies. Well maybe my Mobo doesn't like to see 3200 populated to 64gb across 4 slots at 3200.

Nope, my PSU was dying.
4-5 reboots and I noticed lights weren't firing up on reboot and then it went dark.
Mobo power button is useful bc it made me look at it btw clearing cmos and reboot.

Swapped my PSU and everything is fine.....except now I want a quad channel setup.

Unfortunately, I can't return the board since I've owned it for 5 years now. Just randomly happened a few weeks ago. Thought my Kingston HyperX 1866 was going bad. That's why I bought the crucial in the first place.

Huh. Here's something interesting I noticed. In the user manual for the board, it states:

"We recommend that you install memory modules in the red slots for better overclocking capability"

The red slots are the ones that are stable at 2600. The black slots can't even do 2300. Officially from ASUS. the board will support up to DDR2166 (Manual specifies that this is when overclocked). Anyone have any insight on this?

What board? I've found that some 1155/1156 boards really did not like highly clocked memory. Even some manufacturers would work when others wouldn't (@ the exact same clocks).

It's an ASUS Crosshair V Formula.

I can run up to 1300Mhz DDR clock in the red slots. The black slots, not so much.

That's been a thing for while.
I didn't have any patience for it bc it would cost people their jobs when they white boxed a build that wasn't 24/7 reliable and able to be fully populated.

Thankfully hardware is just a hobby right now and any issues like this is the problem of a guy wearing a Dell or HP polo at the colo. Office facing I turn a blind eye to whatever the creative side needs bc stuff like this will come up when the release schedule gets packed. They need power, content needs to get signed off, people are freaking.

It's over something like shortening up job time.

Either way glws.

UPDATE:

I bought a 2x8 kit and this is now a FOR SALE thread. Again, all sticks function fine. It's my board that is keeping me from using them.

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that your model number is for CORSAIR not Crucial.

GLWS... Bump

LMAO! Wow I must have been half asleep or half intoxicated when I made the original thread. Surprised I didn't catch it myself. Thanks for the save!
