Gabe Newell Responds to Microsoft’s Rumored Plans to Acquire Valve

There is pride in ownership. Money just can't buy that pride in some folk. Especially when you are not hurting for money.
This man is the epitome of proud

Just keep supporting GNU/Linux ecosystem please.

Wayland is taking a long time to come around argh.

Gabe owns over 50% of valve and doesn't seem like hes ready to bail and retire to an old folks home quite yet.

I mean come on Gabe has the sort of money at this point where he could build a new top of the line PC every single day and burn it at the end of the day for fun. He could live in a different home every month and give it away on the 1st. Drive a new car daily. He could burn a million a day just for fun.... and he would still never run out of money in his lifetime.

The thought of him tucking his tail and taking a blow to his ego on the level of selling his company to MS is just insane. Clearly a rumor started by someone as a joke... or by someone who has never heard Gabe speak of MS. lol

The irony being, of course, that if EA really does think MTX is the way towards printing money (and they certainly do) and continue in that direction (they certainly seem to be) plus grab important patents in the field (which they recently have), it's going to make them a tastier target for acquisition even if their valuation (based at least partly on MTX) is bogus. So I guess...yay?

There were rumors last week that Microsoft wanted to acquire EA as well. But in reality they are nothing but rumors. EA is financially fine and if Microsoft can spend 25 billion on Linkedin (still have no idea how that company was valued for that much) could you even fathom how much EA would ask for. They would probably ask for most of the money in Microsofts piggy bank.
