South Park: The Fractured but Whole

I love South Park, hate Ubisoft. So, I'm waiting for a price drop. I cannot support a full price release with Uplay and money grab DLC attached to it.

You go girl! Stick it to the man! I'm sure Ubisoft is gonna be fiscally hurting after your protest.

According to other people 8.5 is "ok but not great". A game is only good if it gets a 9, and really good if it gets a 10, and amazing if it gets 11/10, with perfection being 12/10.

Who cares? Numbered ratings are entirely redundant anyways.

I preordered this from BB several months ago and it won't be here until tomorrow. So much for release day delivery.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. ;)

I was hoping this game would support ultrawide but from what I've seen it does not. I realize it's much easier to slap on some ultrawide support when the game is a first person or third person shooter as opposed to a side scroller like this but it is disappointing all the same for me.

exactly why i ditched my x34 and never looked back

Once I started gaming on a large television + home theater, I can't imagine going back to anything else.

Who says Ubisoft dumped them? Obsidian has two others games in the works. Maybe they just weren't interested in doing another South Park.
Ubi probably did dump them.

South Park SoT was originally to be published by THQ. However, they went under and Ubi bought the rights. Trey did not want certain things to be done with that game when originally made, and Obsidian did a good job of doing just that. The only "pre-order" nonsense was costumes that meant nothing and were made available later.

Since Ubisoft seems to have gotten full control, it seems too that the game is being parted out and sold piecemeal. Thus, my interest in it almost non-existent at this point. I'll probably get it when it's much, much cheaper. UPlay was the biggest blow, as I don't like Ubisoft. If it weren't for South Park and Rayman, I would never buy their products.

I believe Trey and Matt's production company, South Park Digital Studios, has creative control over any video game made under the South Park license. Having that kind of say was one of the reasons the company was formed.

The fact people care about this in a South Park game blow my mind :D
It makes a difference and does look nice, if you have the means, I would seriously recommend it. Everything in the world looks 2D/bunch of textures, but if you look closer, you will see otherwise.

Artistically, it looks very simple, technically, it's really freaking cool. Very proud to have worked on this game with all those involved.

So far enjoying this game alot, I dont think its as good as stick of truth but its still pretty funny so far. I just left the church and that whole thing was funny and odd :p

Played the demo on xbox X and I'm not feeling the thrill I felt with the first game. Not sure if I'll buy this one, might have to wait for a bargain.

It is not as good as the first one. It is longer but it doesn't have the same wtf moments. It is more then worth a play through I say.

yeah not as good as the first but still fun. and the DLC is out now too...

Playing through this right now. Not sure what to think of it to be honest.
The writing is super clever, but the game itself is a massive step backward. Combat is like a skinned 1980's RPG. Not necessarily a good one either.
There are tons of gags, but they're mostly just objects you find that have no visual representation. For instance, you might find an "Antonio Banderas Blow-Up Doll," but text is all you get. It just says you found one on-screen, it categorizes it, and that's that. If you aren't paying attention, you don't even get that much - the text blurb is gone in about 1/2 second. You don't get any picture of it or anything. It's kind of lazy. There are also lots of quicktime-style events.
Yet the game is well written, acted, and produced. Yet it's not really a good game.
It's probably the sort of thing fans should watch someone play through on YouTube. Skipping all of the pointless item collection and most of the battles of course.
