A forward-thinking Dutch startup, the Institute of Human Obsolescence (IoHO), believes that humans should start using their bodies to produce capital... but not in the way you’re imagining. One of their latest projects is a body suit that harvests excess human body heat to mine cryptocurrency. Thanks Guarana.

IoHO created a body suit that uses thermoelectric generators to store body heat — and converts that heat into usable electricity. 37 workers were responsible for 212 hours of work between them, harvesting a total of 127,210 milliwatts of electricity, and mining 16,954 coins. 80 percent of the earnings went to the workers, while the rest went to the institute.

Uh oh...it's the beginning of "The Matrix"?
Exactly the first thing I thought of when I looked at the picture and read the headline......all that is missing the the brain stem jack that takes you to the alternate reality.

...and that tube up the ass for fecal processing...can't forget that....

Still wanting a date for the robots taking our jobs. Been waiting since around 1987 for this to happen

Been into cutting edge technology my whole life, but this stuff is beginning to turn me into an old luddite. Especially things involving AI creating "art" and making videos indistinguishable from the real thing. Humanity seems intent on making itself worthless.

Dumb idea. The only purpose is to be shocking. Too bad for them, the laws of thermodynamics makes sure this is never efficient.

You strap this on to people at a gym, or while people are sleeping, and it could have potential. The point is to utilize heat that might otherwise go unutilized. It doesn't have to be efficient, necessarily, just effective.

Not really - the point of their art piece is to demonstrate how silly the crypto craze is getting.

harvesting a total of 127,210 milliwatts of electricity,

Would it kill them to stop trying to wow people with large numbers, and say 127 watts?

But I guess saying 212 hours to suck enough energy of people to light a standard light bulb for about 10 seconds doesn't sound very exciting.

Today 1 Bitcoin equals $18,949.99 US Dollars. They mined 16,954 coins? Really?
Edit:
OK you gotta define "coin". They did not mine for bitcoins. They mined other stuff.
