My father is retiring and moving to Nevada. He's a huge Packer fan and won't be able to catch any of the games w/o paying for some obscenely priced NFL TV package. So I'm wanting to get something that I can hook up to my antenna that allows him to access it over the internet through his computer, or better yet, his Roku.

I know something like an HDHomeRun will do this on an internal network, but is there any device that will allow for external access? Or some way to futz around with the HDHomeRun to make it work externally, like using a dynamic DNS hostname and port forwarding?

Hmm, so the HDHomeRun would be connected to my antenna and Ethernet/WiFi, then it talks with my Plex server over LAN, which can then be accessed externally?

If so, that'd work. I already use Plex quite a bit. Thanks!

Tablo DVR will do this as well. It's also easier to setup, and is arguably better than the Plex DVR function.

Another vote for Tablo. We use it in conjunction with our Roku's. Works great.

You don't even need plex dvr. There is a plex plugin that is free that allows you to stream live t.v. via plex over the internet. Be aware it's mpeg2 so you will need to transcode. I found 720p 4mbit was perfectly fine. It uses the ota hdhomerun dual tuner devices.
