Well more fun with Windows yet again. My Rift worked just fine for days and then I updated my video drivers and now everytime I boot I get the USB device not recognized message for the headset. Of course I googled it and tried every possible solution but nothing worked. I even used DDU on the Nvidia drivers and went back to the previous one which had no issue but the problem still persists.

It's something usb driver related. I had simular for weeks when k started up the oculus.was somethig to do with the order i plugged the headset In since I need to plug it I. Every time I play as it's in a separate room.

I get the message if I plugged in the headset usb cable before plugging in the headset hdmi.

Read online that you won't get the message if the sensors can see the headset.. meaning plug in the HDMI before the sensor usb.

Anyways.. the other day Oculus showed under. Device settings all my sensors had a warning to update my usb drivers.

Since I use an external sub 3.0 card i went to the manufactures site and downloaded and installed them.. didn't help. Then I got that message you see. So only thing I thought of was letting windows find new drivers. And I guess it did or it was windows update.. can't remember which now.. was chaos atm.

Anyways it works fine now.

Also, just for shits and giggles make sure the cable didn't come unseated at the head unit. You can't tell just by visually looking at it. Pop off the eye cover foam mask and reseat the cable.

there's nothing wrong with the cable and unplugging and plugging it back in will work but on a fresh boot is when the issue occurs.

Obvious answer, have you tried a different USB port? I had a similar problem with a different device from which this solution worked. Later had reinstalled windows and original port began working again aswell, weird tho.

Yes I tried a different port.

Today I had the pc completely unplugged for hours as I set up my new desk to have more room for VR and this time when I started the pc it was recognized this time which is strange.

Have had issues like this in Windows. Unfortunately, it's turned out to be a damaged Windows install as no devices (including thumb drives and the like) would no longer recognize.

A repair didn't fix it. Only a reinstall.

Pretty common for windows to me as crap up after a large version update. :/ always best for w clean install of the newest version when they release them.

I have been getting this error a lot more since updating to the new Core 2.0. I had this before but not nearly as much, doing a re-install of Windows does no good, I even re-installed Oculus software and issue still happens. It's crappy software to blame. If I rearrange the ports used I can get it stable most of the time even on fresh boots

Lol now it just did it even just coming out of standby. Getting tired of having to unplug the god damn cable and plug it back in multiple times a day.
