Hello mining community! As the title says I am trying to get into mining but am a little clueless on where to begin. I guess the place I need to begin is exactly what equipment do I need to get a rig setup & running but also the costs. (Looking to start out relatively inexpensive to get my feet wet then see where it goes.) Also if anyone would be interested I would like to get me a seasoned mentor who can help guide me through this adventure!

Thanks,
Jeremy

Also, youtube building mining rigs... you gotta get your own base of knowledge before anyone else can help you :)

Easiest way to mine at home is with nicehash, I use them and its pretty headache free. I'd highly recommend a coinbase account if you're US based if you want to be able to trade your BTC for USD.

Hardware wise make sure you have good power, a lot of cheaper power supplies will say things like 500w but that isn't 500 watts of 12v power, I have an el cheapo 500w power supply that is actually 360w 12v but it has a ton of power on 5v. I'd try to stick to quality name brand power supplies if possible like seasonic, corsair, evga, antec, and even some rosewill, though their cheaper ones are crap in my experience.

GPU wise it really depends on your budget, do your homework here. If you have cheap power then you may be able to go with older cards. I have one machine with 2 7870's that eat half their profit in electricity but since I have electric heating it doesn't really matter to me.

If you plan on putting a bunch of cards on one motherboard I would highly recommend using risers. Back when you could mine bitcoin on video cards a buddy and I put 4-5 6870's on each board without risers and we burnt up one of them. That being said if you have a high end board with a bunch of pci-e slots it can usually take 2-3 cards without issue.

If you're hooking up multiple power supplies to the same PC don't plug the riser molex into one PSU and the video card's power into the other PSU. If you want to do this and not buy those adapter cables you can splice just a couple of cables yourself and save a couple bucks.

Here's a pretty cheap way to get started if you have an older PC with a PCI-E slot sitting around...

Not sure why you would need those relay thingers. Should be fine with something like this...

And you could go with this kit instead of the 1-to-4 board on the slow boat from China to get setup quicker...
