Nintendo and Kellogg’s have teamed up to take fans on a breakfast odyssey that will continue long after the cereal box is empty. In addition to collectible Super Mario Odyssey box art, each Super Mario Cereal box functions as an amiibo accessory, making breakfast a more playful experience.

The limited-edition cereal box will begin hitting store shelves across the US as early as Dec. 11. Those playing the Super Mario Odyssey game can tap the cereal box on the Nintendo Switch system, like you would an amiibo, to receive gold coins or a heart in the game. Even the cereal itself has a Super Mario twist, with colorful power-up marshmallows and a blast of mixed berry flavor in every box.

Indoctrinate them at a young age. Isn't this how commercialism work?

didnt we have this in the 80s already?
I grew up as a kid in the 80s.. and yeah we did. My cereal of choice was Donkey Kong cereal because the back of the box was a Donkey Kong board that you could do something incredibly lame with... but SHUT UP ITS DONKEY KONG MOM!!!!!!!

And before that in the 70s they had various cartoon characters pushing sugar crack for breakfast, and before than in the 60s... This is a trend that will not end unless there are laws to do it, then of course people will be up in arms "HOW DARE THE GOVERNMENT TELL ME HOW I SHOULD FEED MY KID" (while completely missing the point)

Judging by the cereal itself on the box, this new stuff will be similar to that Nintendo boring bland crap from the 80s that toast0 posted above.

Then again, almost all themed cereals are nothing but generic puffs that taste like wet cardboard.
C3POs
TMNT
Mr T
Gremlins
E.T.
Pac-Man
For TV/Movie themed cereals, Ghostbusters was way better, imo...It actually had flavor.

All the others may as well been named:

Oh man that brings back memories :D I had that cereal in 1988. Now we have Super Mario Odyssey Cereal. I'm going to buy a box or 2 and keep it unopened. Who knows maybe in 20 years I can sell it on ebay lol

We had some fucked up cereals in the 80's, I'll say that much..........OJ's....Circus Fun.....Pac Man......the epic S'Mores Crunch (literally freeze dried smores......High Fructose Corn Syrup was like the first 3 ingredients)........damn I miss those.
