Real world benefits of 3200+ ram?

what platform?

really outside of synthetic tests and specific workloads not a lot. also latency matters just as much as clock speeds.

Oops I personally am running X99. As the tweaker in me wants to mess with timings and eek out a little more, I'm not sure there's really a point. Besides the fun of just doing it I guess.

it affects cpu performance in games and lightroom
with a dual channel ddr4 platform the gains are 10-30% increase in cpu performance but with quad channel it would be less
video editing sees no noteworthy improvement

the gains from ram depend on how much time the cpu is waiting on data not already in its cache
so well optimized\easily predictable software doesn't see much benefit from higher ram speeds

Thanks. Im just running dual channel right now. Glad to hear it helps in light room. I think 3200mhz is plenty for me right now.
