Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in-game rewards may feel stingy, but wait until you hear about the time it takes to unlock everything. According to one player’s estimates, it will take you around 4,528 hours of gameplay, or $2,100, to unlock all content in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. The player in question posted a detailed breakdown of how he arrived at these calculations.

The 600 credits received from a hero crate is worth 27% the cost of a hero crate. This is equivalent to 30 crystals. To account for this, I reduced the cost of a hero crate from 110 crystals to 80 crystals. 12,000 crystals can be bought for $100. Opening the required 3,111 loot crates requires 248,880 crystals. If you only purchase $100 crystal packs, this will cost $2,100.

Crap like this is why for the most part AAA gaming can suck my taint. They expect me to pay top dollar for this experience ?

But that defense fails because you have to pray to RNGesus every time you roll the dice compared to what you actually get. Its not like you're going to only unlock the things you want

:eek:Good lord! What was EA thinking.

No one needs all of the unlocks though. Same could probably be said for all of OVERWATCH content.

Overwatch is strictly cosmetic unlocks.

The unlocks for BF2 are all characters, or weapon/hero upgrades. These all effect gameplay and how good your character is. It's a pay 2 win game and nothing else.

Exactly, sensationalist nonsense. $60 nets you a complete game with great single player and engaging multiplayer which is exactly what everyone begged for after the 1st game. You get your money's worth EASILY. This game is incredibly polished and well designed. If players demand 4500 hrs of unlocks for free then guess whats gonna happen, there will simply be fewer unlocks.

The requirements to unlock these items for free are easily attainable. I was watching a vid last night where a guy was complaining about how it takes 250 kills to get Anti-Air equipped on his tank, saying "this is gonna take quite a while guys". Dafuq, thats like 5 matches. You gain valuable experience in that time anyway, the unlock system practically does you a favor by training you to win without upgrades first.

Well, it is a good thing that microtransactions are a player choice and are only cosmetic, it isn't like any of the cool "Star Cards" that players earn with " pride and a sense of accomplishment " change any of the multiplayer gameplay in a meaningful way..... (y)

I could not disagree more. The campaign is a big steaming pile of Wookie Feces and too short to even be considered worthy of the bargain bin. The multiplayer is an even bigger steaming pile of PTW and the Star Cards are a big steaming pile as well. What happened to everyone being on an equal playing field and skill being the deciding factor? I honestly couldn't give 2 shits if they remove the PTW aspect as long as the shitty star card system is around.

Attitude like that is exactly why they'll keep doing this. Overwatch is cosmetic, at least... if you want to look like whatever, you can buy it, doesn't change game balance. BFII(2) is not, which is why it's an issue.

Bargain bin purchase for me or random win from geforce xp. Conceptually game balance pay items bother me. I like OW because its all just look and feel and amusing whenever you get to see a new costume you may not have.

This sucks. I was looking forward to a renewed fighter squadron fix. SIGH.

It isn't nonsense. The Star Cards that you unlock and upgrade have an actual benefit to multiplayer. those with the high end upgraded cards will have a distinct advantage over those that do not. We don't want 4500 hours of unlocks for free. We want NO unlocks. The Star Cards are a bullshit cash-grab game mechanic. Gate-keeping the heroes is bullshit also. You can't just start the game as Vader, you have to save up points during that round to spawn as him. I mean there is a Boba Fett Star card that gives his main gun fucking aim assist.

LoL.............4000 hours......holy shit. Half a year if you played 24/7.......EA is evil.

how is the single player part of the game, any fun?

Think of it this way - the SP content is like 8 hours. You need to play it like 100000000 times to unlock everything. And EA made it so you can't farm the SP for unlocks (it times out after awhile). It's like what they did with their mobile Dungeon Keeper game. They want you to play multiplayer, so you get your ass handed to you by people who buy perks, so you have to buy perks to keep up and maybe enjoy the game.

Both deserve to be shat on imo for doing this garbage in a game that's not f2p game.

ahh, good to know. thanks

I love the 'this isn't that bad' apologists, this is bad, its worse than anything I've seen to date, and as long as people keep ponying up, its only going to get worse.

Also, stop the false equivalency propaganda, cosmetic items are no where near the same as actual game play upgrades.

Still reality is, there are to many people that just want that hit now and/or have zero self control so it is unlikely anything will change until.... idk, you pay $60 to watch the trailer and $20 to see the character model and... I'm describing Star Citizen now, so I guess things will just keep getting worse.

OW and BF2 are practically incomparable. The upgrades in BF2 do not fundamentally change the way the game is played or provide players with any significant/meaningful upgrades. A skilled player can go in with a completely vanilla loadout and still win. This isnt like Team 1 gets aerial vehicles and Team 2 is stuck to the ground. Team 1 gets sniper rifles and Team 2 is stuck with pistols. With the massively multiplayer component of BF2 matches having 1 guy who lacks the AA upgrade on his tank does not weigh the team down. Individuals do not have as dramatic of an impact on the game as they do in something like OW where 1 player can literally cripple your entire team.

BF2's lootcrate system is designed to reward players who put in time and offer an abundance of options for players that want to experiment with all the different doodads and trinkets available, none of which are required to be competitive. Buying all $2100 worth is like buying out the $10,000 coupon magazine to maximize your savings. You'd have to buy the entire store inventory just to get it.

The single player is what, 8-10 hrs? Thats standard for a multiplayer FPS. And skill is the deciding factor. A good player will beat a lesser player no matter what upgrades he has. Some of my best matches in the Battlefield series were just diving the enemy with hipfire/ironsights and playing hyper aggro while they stumbled around trying to 1v1 with their 4x nightvision scopes.

Is this game worthy of a Star Citizen award for "milking gamer's of the year"?

I am surprised you can actually say this with a straight face. How much are you making off of EA stock? Every EA game is now coming out with this BS card system and PTW. They are "improvements" to your characters and weapons, so it very definitely affects the competitiveness of the game. It is completely embodying the PTW system.

My days of 100%ing any game are over, this I suppose would be one reason why... There is a point where it becomes why bother at all though.

As others have said, vote with your wallet. If you want to play a game like this and spend the money, go for it.
Wow - what a gold mine. Does EA ever break down revenue during their earnings calls? I'd be curious to see some numbers.

Their master plan apparently has some holes in it. Put 600 hours into BF4 and never bought a single upgrade.

LUL

No, no it is not. Take 8 and divide it by 2. That is your correct answer. And that's if you explore.
The SP portion of the game is 4 hours?
Seriously?
Wooooooooow, not just pass, hard pass— even in the discount bin.
