According to Microsoft, demand for the Xbox One X is right where they anticipated and the excitement for the product is high. Of course they won't compare it to other consoles. Anyway, shortages are expected in some regions, but this is to be expected with the launch of a new product like the Xbox One X. Only time will tell how well the X is going to do in the market, but Microsoft seems to be excited. I can't wait to see some reviews on how well it performs. Is this the droid we're looking for?

"I won't talk about the exact numbers but the demand is super high, we are very, very excited about Xbox One X right now," Panos Panay, corporate vice president of devices at Microsoft, told CNBC in a TV interview Tuesday.

Specs are great and all but I'd like to see some 4K vs 1080p actual gaming comparisons. I mean games made for 4K, not upscaled.

If my PS4 has taught me anything.... it's that I love my PC :)

I think they are overestimating demand quite a bit. Yes, there is a VERY vocal group of Xbox fans who plan on immediately rushing out and buying. This will amount to (my guess) 5 million or so sales...total. Add in another 5 million who will buy it over the next year or so...but I am guessing far less than 10 million total, and sales of other model Xbox Ones are dropping off a cliff. In the end, they may have a "successful" holiday, but will still continue to be outsold over 2:1 by both Sony and Nintendo. I would be VERY surprised if the Xbox hardware is still in production this time next year.

I heard nothing about either 1440p support or freesync! Wow...that is pretty cool on a console! But yeah, the lack of games on the console means no sale for me. I would rather buy a $500 graphics card.

That's one powerful system. I feel like Sony and Microsoft are going to keep this leapfrogging trend. I personally don't like how there are systems with different amounts of power, requiring you to upgrade every other year for the best possible experience.

Michael Pachter, is that you?

They are super high. The highest. No one is higher than the Xbox One X sales. It's super high. :)

It's where they anticipated. In the past, they've said that the Xbox One X isn't for everyone and isn't going to sell to everyone that has an Xbox One. So, they anticipated that it wouldn't sell super high numbers.

Great system, and I'd love to have one. I just want to wait until I upgrade to 4K. BTC donations are accepted. ;)

Every time I get close to considering one of these things, I just can't justify it. I have a relatively powerful PC which pretty much means that there are no exclusive games. With the exception of the Halo series, I just can't think of what I would play on the X. It's an impressively small machine, but I'm not certain the market exists the way MS thinks it does. The Xbox One S seems like the best buy right now with a 4k blu-ray player.

Probably makes sense about their demographic.

Give me quality games like PS4 has and I'm onboard with it. Xbox one is pretty much for kids to play minecraft or stream netflix, not that my PCs are any better due to lack of good games in the past few years, Nioh finally coming out and there was Dark Souls 3. Problem is games that are fun for more than an hour are severely lacking MS

No, the demand is high for firstparty exclusives. Where are they?

They're in trouble with the anemic library and they know it. It's bizarre that they didn't bother to produce one killer title to coincide with the launch.

A Forza rehash and a timed exclusive on PUBG aren't the come from behind equalizer they need now, and multiplats don't get people to jump platforms.

They need to drive up the demand for it. They are hoping scalpers buy them all up to resell for the holidays.

I don't care until they give me something to play on it. Think I'll get a Switch soon.

I swear MS reads like they are going to pull out of the market. They just do to me.

The Dust on my PS4 is about an 1" thick as my computer blows even more dust on it while it's in it's original Box.
I don't think God of War 4 is enough motivation to bring it out again. If Deep Down ever comes out I'll try that game. I had fun with Destiny 1 came out and plays Killzone as well and Bloodborne but ever since then there is no reason to have it plugged in.

PC gaming master race

X-BOX Boss is excited because he can go on Vacation for the rest of his life.....

The latest Halo isn’t worth it IMO just fyi. Master Chief collection isn’t bad at all though. Sunset Overdrive was actually quite fun but sadly underplayed I think. And Rare Replay is a good buy....the rest is PS4/PC also. As far as being a 4K Blu-ray player...well be prepared for constant updates to the system or the controller...or the Blu-ray app. (Also the updates might “brick” your system like they did to mine less than a year old.)

Required is a bit of a misnomer in this case. If it wasn’t well surely you would have upgraded the 980ti in your sig to a 1080ti by now or does it still provide a great experience the same way some people still get great experiences from OG PS4 and Xbone?

Hell a month back I fired up my PS3....to play Jak 2 (a PS2 game)

Yup, you're right. I still have a regular PS4.

Yeah, my 980 Ti still provides me what I need. No problems at 2560x1440. So no necessary requirement here to upgrade to a 1080 Ti yet. May wait till next gen there

Yeah. Decent gaming PC + PS4 Pro = all bases covered.

I got rid of my PS4 a while ago because I knew the Pro would be on sale when the X came out. I still need to play Horizon, Lost Legacy, and The Last Guardian. And some of the upcoming stuff looks good - God of War, Detroit, Spiderman, TLOU2, Sucker Punch's new Samurai open-worlder (Ghosts of Tsushima?), Days Gone, Death Stranding, etc.

The X is tempting for a theoretically slightly prettier Red Dead 2, but the Pro is the better deal factoring all the exclusives and $300-350 on black friday. No brainer. WIth the money left over you could buy a Xbone S for UHD playback if you didn't get the memo that physical media is dead.

I'm mostly interested in how they will name their next console... Xbox One X-2, Xbox One Xfinity, Xbox One Xultra, Xbox One Xone, etc...

and then do what? play mario kart? I do like the switch form factor and more then likely getting one for my son. I have played them on display at stores and im not at all impressed with the games so far.

Only way I would buy one is if they supported kb&m in their (FPS) games, then I would get one to put next to my PS4 Pro on my computer desk as well since I play all my console and PC games on my 43" 4K Samsung TV. Otherwise I'd rather just get a $500ish video card that will still outperform it and play 98% of its games as well.

Sony (and even Nintendo) has the clear game advantage and no amount of hardware will make up for that. Can't wait for the Horizon DLC to drop next week.

Physical media is not dead. There is no streaming service that can compare to the quality of UHD Blu-ray. Hell regular Blu-ray still better then most the 4k streaming out their. Not mention all the data caps being put on most services.

I'm sure there's a noticeable difference between UHD Blu-Ray and any 4K streaming service if you put them side by side. But I think for the vast majority of people, 4K streaming is more than adequate for an enjoyable movie experience and the sheer convenience of not having to insert/store physical media each time makes streaming preferable. Data caps are certainly an issue in certain markets though, but fortunately in my area (northern KY), I have 2 ISPs to choose from with 300-1000 Mb/s service and neither have any data caps.

I agree that streaming blows compared to physical media. But the fact has not created in consumers enough interest to sustain it. And so physical media is a dying niche at best - the last gasp of the slow death that Blockbuster was first casualty of.

Consumers are too happy with the convenience of video/music streaming to care about the slopped over quality. The PS5 won't even have an optical drive.

Haven’t bought a 4K UHD disc yet although I’m certain it’s the sharpest. BUT I love these next gen consoles because I’m done with having physical discs.

Every game I’ve bought since the ps4 and Xbox One have been out, is digital. Can’t beat that. Could care less that i can’t trade in and recoup some money. I love the convenience

As for the lack of games, there will always be people who don't want to go the PC route but want the best quality games otherwise. And with disposable income, they'll choose the Xbox One X. It can play the old games, and while still trailing the PS4, it's not like the player base is non existent. Would more games be useful? Yes. But with console games taking the PC route of scalable quality, they can get rid of their old console, and have a new console with their past titles.

Oh man, Horizon is great, my benchmark for saying that is I got the platinum while working a nuke shutdown. 75 hour weeks on nights and I still played everyday instead of sleeping or vegging out with Netflix.

hrmmm. GPU/CPU me boy? PC master race requires it more often!

It has 2 of the highest rated games, Zelda and the new Mario. Splatoon 2 and Fire Emblem are highly praised. Mario + Rabbits. Overcooked, Golf Story. Hell I'll even double dip for games like Doom, Shovel Knight or The Jackbox Party on the go.

What does Xbox have? A meh Halo and a meh Gears? I rather just replay the good ones on my 360.

You "boys" always forget, that PC gamers don't buy new gpus every year to match consoles, they do it to get the best possible experience all the time. To match the console experience you can have the same mid class CPU/GPU for many years. Hell you can have the same CPU for 5 years anyway now if all you're interested in is gaming.
