Razer Phone to Sport 2K Display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB RAM

at first I thought that this said RAZR .... like a new smartphone version of the Motorola Razr. lol

2.4 GHz octa-core in a cell phone? I'm going to infer that there will be a fair amount of customer complaints regarding thermal throttling, since Razer will likely stick to their "razer blade" ultra-thin and light design approach.

All 835 chip phones are octa-core. The new Pixel XL 2 is 2.35 GHz though. So basically LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, HTC flagship from this year, and a couple others are already loosely identical to this razer device. The only difference will probably be screen quality, battery size, UI skin, and the razer has 8 GB of ram instead of everything else that has 4 GB. I doubt the system really uses 4 GB to its full potential so 8 is probably just marketing numbers. When all the Android phones are loose clones of each other then you can kind of just pick whatever you want. Razer entering the market could cater to gaming oriented crowd even though the GPU is the exact same as everything else with the 835 chipset. It is also possible that it could stir things up and lead to some hardware buffs on the android side if they do things like more ram, or faster clocks on hardware. Worst case scenario all the Razer fans just start buying Razer phones which is probably more than the old company they purchased had customer wise.

8GB ram? Wasn't that long ago some phones where still coming with old 8GB of flash.

Guess we will have even more code bloat.
It's gotten to the point that older tablets/phones with 1GB ram are having problems running some of the newer apps & games. Seems apps are being written to run on 2GB+

Its razor. So you can be sure it will cost a premium (like their laptops). Snapdragon 835+8GB Ram? I'm betting it will be more than $1k for this phone..

Razor to me is overpriced. Nice aesthetics a lot of the time, but not worth the price difference of competitors with similar spec'd hardware, to me anyway.

im actually excited for this. All my razer products have been bullet proof. Also the razer stealth I think if a fair price for what you buy and my razer blade 14 with the 1060 was expensive. The build quality is amazing and I dont regret spending the money. I also have hated some of their products. Im excited what this phone brings. Is it equal to the s8+? or will be changing the game a bit? I'm excited to find out

It would've made more sense for Razer to create a gaming focused tablet, like the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 (which desperately needs a successor). Hell, they could hire Nvidia to create it.

I really want a phone with hardware controls.

Maybe a slider like this guy was.

2k is 1080p, maybe you want to change the title.

2k was stolen by 1440p users because they're too fuking lazy to say 1440p. And 3k was just too hard for their brains to comprehend :D

Of course, the 4k users are lazy too, stealing a DCI standard that has more pixels than theirs does. So a 4k monitor doesn't actually have 4096 pixels :D
