Any fighting game fans holding out for a Steam release will not have to wait anymore. Microsoft Studios has finally released Killer Instinct on Steam. Developed by Iron Galaxy, this reboot of the franchise brings the classic arcade fighter into the modern era. Previously available for free on the Windows Store supported with paid DLC, this release is priced at $39.99, but has been discounted until Oct. 4th for $29.99. Additionally, the game supports Windows-compatible keyboard, Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers and Xbox 360 fight sticks.

Experience the mayhem.

The legendary fighting franchise is back with over-the-top action, a wild cast of combatants, rocking reactive music, and C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERS!!!

I bought the game from the Windows store, I wonder if there's anyway to transfer the key to steam.

More importantly : does the game use proper direct X, and not the crappy WDI or whatever Microsoft store forces apps to use? If I recall, quantum break mas MUCH better on steam because it abandoned Microsoft Store.

You can add the game to the steam library
It think he thinks the steam version will have more people playing it. In this case I don't think so since this game is cross platform with the Xbox. Fighting game communities are pretty small on the PC compared to consoles.

I'm wondering the same thing, mainly to see if the Steam version performs better on Steam Link. The Windows Store version requires you to jump through a bunch of hoops to work on Steam Link, and even then it doesn't play nor sound right. Just simply adding it to your Steam library doesn't work, or at least last I tried. Both of these issues are due to how Microsoft locks down the app via its Windows Store app folder.

Im so sorry.

This is why you never buy anything in the windows Microsoft store (or whatever they're calling it this week). Not even once. Too many lame restrictions, obfuscated game files thanks to UWP container jail, and often games are glitchy. Pointless gimmicks like xbox game mode have proven worthless.

Of course. Not even close.

There isn't.

Q: Is the game cross-buy? Does my purchased content carry-across platforms?

A: The Steam ecosystem is completely separate from the Windows Store and the Xbox Store, and therefore content does not carry across. We want to give gamers the choice of where to play – so if you love Steam and prefer to play with your Steam account, you now can.

Full Q&A for the Steam version is here:
