Not too far back, some very resourceful folks over at SwitchBrew were able to find out that there was an NES emulator inside the Nintendo Switch entitled "flog." Well, it turns out that "flog" is golf backwards no less and there is possibly a version of NES Golf inside every Nintendo Switch. The other interesting thing found was that there was Joy-Con support for controlling the game.

Yellows8 claims the emulator-wrapped game is installed on Switch systems dating back to the system's original 1.0 firmware. The user also writes that "it's unknown what exactly triggers launching this title." Could there be a button combo, Joy-Con motion command, or even Amiibo-driven unlock required? Or is this just a hidden proof-of-concept of Virtual Console fare soon to officially launch? And how exactly did yellows8 get these screenshots if the user couldn't load the hidden Switch game manually?

I see this coming from miles away Now with every switch get all the nintendo classic and snes classic games for free (the ones they decide to release on the standalone classic systems)! n64 and future games to be added in the future!

Well virtual console still hasn't officially came to Switch yet...some time next year maybe?

The online system on Switch is a complete and utter clusterfuck. It says the online service (including retro games) is free until it's officially released, but then you go online and there is nothing but the store. Or my personal favorite. In the news section, there are links to new games released. Clicking on each on counts as a new store session, so you have type in your password for each one. And each links to a sandbox, so it's not like once your in you can just continue in to the rest of the store.

So in other words, speculation is fine, because I don't think Nintendo even knows what it's doing tomorrow.

That being said, I do enjoy my Switch. It's gimmicky as hell, but the gimmicks work when put all together.
Thats alot of what Nintendo markets to these days, gimmicks, but they work well and appeal to a certain group that don't care and have fun with it. Wish they would push it a bit further but they are still making money.

To some extent, they have to. Microsoft and Sony are in an arms race in terms of raw graphical capability. Nintendo can't compete against them directly. So they came up with an alternative to graphic supremacy.

There's no games for it. They sit in closets until mario finally comes out.

As long as the games are fairly priced I'd jump all over a virtual console for the Switch.

Speak for yourself. The motion controls on my Wii U has never worked very well for me. Same thing with my 3DS. The 3D mode has a ton on ghosting and blurryness on the edges of polygons.

I'm not saying the hardware works well, i'm saying their gimmicks work well, for marketing purposes. I have only owned a Wii (since owning a Nintendo64) and didn't really like how the controllers worked but it was the gimmick of motion controls that worked well to sell their products.

Correct. My kids and I only play three games right now: Classic Sonic, Zelda and Snipper Clips. I basically got the Switch last week while it was available (without a scalper premium) because I know when Mario comes out next month, there's going to be another shortage of systems.

There isn't a game called Classic Sonic.

Nintendo could compete with Microsoft and Sony if they wanted to, but they see themselves as a toy company and always have.
