Smallest possible case for Ryzen & 1080?

Here are the components I am thinking of getting, that I need a case & a SFF PSU to fit them. The DAN A4-SFX looks really tempting, but it is also really expensive. Other "cube" or "HTPC" cases are massive, I don't get why there's so much space in there when it's not utilized.

Can you guys help me out?

2. Will you be overclocking? (If so, are you looking to watercool?)
No watercooling, not looking to OC, but if it can be done, it's a nice bonus.

3. What's your budget?
A PSU for $80, a case for $150. I guess that's where the budget is.

4. Where do you live?
US

5. What exact parts do you need for that budget?
Case, PSU

9. Does this system need to fit into a particular space and do you need an optical drive?
As small and quiet as is possible. The unit it going to be up there with the TV units. No need for an optical drive.

10. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring?
Let's not do any modding if possible.

11. How important is the noise/silence of this sytem?
I already picked the GPU and CPU, but not the CPU cooler, so the quieter the better.

14. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Immediately, in a couple weeks, 3-5 years?
Around / after Christmas.

check the zotac mini 1080/1080ti, it will give you plenty more options for a case

Indeed. I'll take a look to see if it's available online. Still, I need the smallest case out there that I can get. I checked out the Dan case and unfortunately it's not available.

Are there any other cases that use a PCI-E adapter to mount the GPU at another angle?

Have you even looked at any of the other threads here, or anything over on SFFN...?

There are a bunch of cases either available now or coming soon, ranging from sub-13 liters with the NCASE M1 to sub-4 liters with the CustomMOD Mini...

The larger the GPU, the larger the case, so looking at cases that take ITX-sized GPUs only would give you a smaller package...

You state that this would be "up there with the TV units", so I would recommend looking at the CustomMOD Mini Slim ITX, since it is a console-style case...

The CustomMOD cases pretty much require one to use the Noctua NH-L9 series of CPU coolers (Noctua makes models for Intel & AMD, including the AM4 socket), which should be fine for the R5 1600, but don't plan to overclock...

Gigabyte has announced their new GTX 1080 Mini GPU, which is an ITX-sized card that would fit just fine in the Mini Slim, so definitely take a look at that...

Keep in mind the CustomMOD cases (aside from the SFX model) all require external power brick & G-Unique internals, you can find out more about that on the linked thread & a search for "G-Unique" here or on SFFN will also give more info...

Best advice for someone wanting to build as small a unit as possible; read, Read, READ as much as you can first; this will avoid getting a collection of parts that don't quite fit in the tiny case you want them too...!

Good luck...!

I think I've come to a conclusion. A different video card, and this case, hopefully it's a solid combination. The only worry is the CPU fan - perhaps I can undervolt the CPU a bit (I need to check the motherboard if it has that capability).

DAN A4 is the answer to the question, but it's 2x more than your budget
