The world’s most powerful console is supposedly selling faster than Microsoft had expected: according to Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg, the company’s total inventory was supposed to last a week, but it sold out in less than a day. Amazon, in particular, ran out of stock in as little as 25 minutes. Microsoft is attempting to manufacture as many Xbox One X units as they possibly can to meet demand.

The company is “really proud” of the Xbox One S, and they expect to continue selling “a lot” of the standard model, but they know that core gamers are going to want the very best, and alongside the benefits of more power and more memory, and a lot of them are going to choose Xbox One X. That being said, Greenberg would “not be surprised” if the Xbox One S kept selling more units than the Xbox One X, but Microsoft is working hard to meet demand for the premium console.

Why ? Too expemsive not enought games......No VR at this time.. no siree not for me...........

Wouldn't be surprised if a good portion of the sales are to flippers. There are already eBay postings going for up to $1,200 or more on the Scorpio Edition.

I don't get this. Why are people constantly saying it's too expensive?

Could have gotten a scorpio edition, but prefer to wait for some better price or a bundle with some game I want.

Kind of smart from microsoft so increase demand by making the first model a limited edition one and for the scalpers who missed out on the snes mini preorders.

Why are people complaining about games? It's not a new console iteration, it has the ENTIRE library of Xbox One games. I don't get it. Pretty much EVERY new game will support better quality on the Xbox One X going forward...

I got my Scorpio Edition from Amazon as soon as they announced it. As for trade in deals... you are better off selling your current Xbox One via Craigslist or ebay. You'll make more money that way anyhow.

Because the Poors have not yet been exterminated.

Pre-orders are going to be sold out...it's to be expected, as EXISTING XBOX CUSTOMERS will snap them up. What remains to be seen is if, after launch, they get ANY traction from NEW customers...which is doubtful.

Video games have a high ROI on launch. Buy for MSRP, sell for 2x or more. People really want them as soon as possible. Look at the NES Classic. Or the SNES Classic (already selling pre-orders on eBay for $250). It's fucked up. I hate scalpers and refuse to buy from them.

People still expect a high end console to be $189/199 (Genesis/SNES) or they could go the Playstation route ($299) -

Anything higher is horrible.

I would 100% never buy from a scalper. I will never pay over MSRP. I actively call out people doing it and suggest others not buy from them as well.

And I still don't get people's fascinations with these Classic consoles... have they not heard of emulators?

I preordered one from amazon. Hopefully i'll get it in the first batch. If not it'll give me more time to get a 4k TV during black friday craze.

MS should have a huge volume of these things ready to go. There are more than likely doing the same thing that Nintendo does every fucking console "OH WE SOLD OUT! SORRY!" and the people go "OH I MUST HAVE ONE THEN!" in reality they had a small initial volume for this reason.

So how long before the increased demand and lack of supply turn into RMAs caused by loosened production standards? It's not difficult to do the math: if you underestimate your demand by at least 15%, increasing production to meet that demand either means higher cost (which is a non-starter in the console world) or less stringent testing to reduce production times.

1 day after the warranty runs out.

Without poor people then those with money would have no one to look down on and make them feel better about themselves. :depressed:

Our poor people are richer than most people from 3rd world countries. There will always be poor people, even if they are doing pretty well for themselves. If everyone made $100K more than they did now, we'd still laugh at those plebs making $120K a year. Ha. Simpletons. How quaint. They want an Xbox One X. HAHA.

I emulate everything, but still have the original hardware for most (sans arcade and a couple consoles). I like the Classic consoles, but I still won't pay more than MSRP. I didn't get the NES Classic and I'm completely fine with it. It would have been a nice addition to a shelf. Without it... I really don't care.

Based on your postings in the other Xbox One X thread it looks like your entire purpose on this forum is to shit out negativity and FUD. How about you take that attitude to the gamefaqs or IGN boards with the other eight-year-olds, please? Thanks ;)

False hype through planned scarcity.

I don;t believe Microsoft miscalculated demand

yeah.. i mean

>total inventory was supposed to last a week

WOW.. a WHOLE week worth's of inventory

though.. you gotta admit, they do play the game well, and the press falls for it EVERY time.

LOL

I was on the Gamespot front back in the day. Have they cracked down on console wars over there or something?

Well, I had pre ordered through the Microsoft online store. Then I went to the local brick and mortar store and pre ordered it from there. I cancelled my online order the next day and I am sure someone snatched that up quickly. :) :D Looking forward to it even though it is just another console. I think I will give my Xbox One original to a friend or someone I know. I have the 360 and the Xbox Original as well, I just enjoy those consoles.

Word of advice:

Never believe in Aaron Greenberg.

No, seriously, just don't believe in him.

It's really not a terrible price for the hardware...Of course I'm sticking to PC gaming, but I can see the appeal.

It's Xbox One X. The Project Scorpio edition is just the special edition one, I believe.

What hardware? It's the same old jaguar with slightly better cooling. It'll at least playing 1080p games with less embarrassing levels of frame drops.

And the games will be hamstrung by regular Xbox One. Most developers won't go out of their way to enhance games for Scorpio. There's no ROI. Publishers aren't in the business of pushing console hardware and spec bumps; just selling as many copies of games as possible.

Odd of you to make that statement so long after the news has proved you wrong.

I hate the code name of that.... There can be only one Jaguar:

From the enhanced games being announced (quite a few), it looks like it will be supported fine. As time goes on, it'll get better, too. It's not a huge leap and it won't get huge support until it has more market share, but it's a refreshing update. It already has a decent sized library.

However, I think it will be like the old Sega (I miss them) releasing a lot of add-on's to prolong the life of their current console. These minor refreshes and upgrades aren't that great. I'd love an Xbox One X, but the slight bump in quality isn't enough to do it for me. If I didn't own an XBO Vanilla, and wanted to buy into the Xbox ecosystem, I would. But, for an owner already of the XBO, no way.

I like stuff like this to have at least 6-8 months of production and feedback before I buy.

I think a lot of people are just scared that console gaming isn't as massive of a step down from PC gaming anymore so they have to come up with something to bitch about to justify in their head why anyone that would play games on a console are out of their mind.

Not only do you have the entire Xbox One library to date, but also a good chunk of the 360 library also (around 400), and maybe soon original xbox games might start to trickle into the list of possible games playable on the system once that feature is finished and released.

sold out at Amazon I think in twenty-five minutes
I'm guessing the one person who bought it was their CEO and it only took him that long because he was trying to use Windows Edge

I really hoped they had VR I would buy it instantly... also I would kill for FF7, Dragon Quest and Fat Princess on xbox.

I wish people would stop whining about the price of consoles so we wouldn't be stuck with under-powered toys.

Also, fuck scalpers.

Thanks.

Yes, this isn't the same situation as the PS4 Pro. Last I checked Microsoft is requiring licensees to add X enhancements on games made for the Xbox, which should also improve the situation on the PS4 Pro for multiplatform games.

You know, this sort of shit is always tempting for a tech geek like myself. But, now that I am older and somewhat wiser I have to ask myself more questions before I can justify the money. Such as, what fucking games are on Xbox One I can't play anywhere else? Not a whole lot. When was the last time I turned on my Xbox 360? I can't remember. So based on those two answers I see no reason to buy one whatsoever. I really hope that they deliver more than just great specs because great specs just won't sell me anymore. We aren't in the 32bit, 64bit console generations anymore and the marketing behind the Xbox One X seems to be just that except it's GFLOP and GHz now.
