The guys over at Exxact Corp. out in California are chomping at the bit to sell some Radeon Vega Frontier Edition AI and workstation cards. Exxact has a nice Radeon Vega introduction page, as well as specification pages for the air cooled and water cooled Radeon Vega Frontier Editions. Specifications for both the air cooled and water cooled cards are identical outside of board TDP which shows a 25% increase on the water cooled version, which would suggest increased clocks. No matter what you think about Radeon, that Vega air cooled card in blue surely is damn good looking.

And since these pages are very likely to be going by the wayside quickly....we grabbed screen caps! w00t!!1 Thanks to cageymaru for the heads up.

Screen caps on the news page.

maybe it's just b/c I woke up and am not all here yet... but i'm not seeing any difference in performance for the blower vs the water cooled versions? (performance wise that is) The kicker now is price and availability. From what I'm seeing it looks like it's going to be one hot running chip, and I mean that in the literal sense.

375W -- so 50% more power usage than 1080ti, but only 10% more TFLOPS.... color me meh.

My first thought is back to the days when I had my 290X blower style card and it sounding like it was about to go into orbit trying to keep itself cool.

Looking forward to some reviews, then will drop the coin on July 31 if all pans out!

it looks like they used the same numbers for both versions probably because the watercooled version only exists on paper right now and hasn't been tested. either way the numbers look decent for the professional/enterprise market.

Must be stupid miners. Unless this gives you hash rate 10 times of a gtx 1070 its not worth it lol
A bios tweaked RX 580 is about the same speed mining ethereum as a GTX 1080ti (~ 31Mh/sec) using half the power. We are waiting to see numbers from the new dedicated mining gpu boards...

I could say the same. 1070 does the same as 1080ti. 1080ti did about 33 mh/s (thats overclocked 1080ti at around 2050 core, and memory bandwidth at 525 GB/s with power usage at 275w), my 1070 get close to 31 mh/s so at stock clock and memory at 9200 so its the same. at 110-120 watt average. Combined power usage is about 215-225 watts for two cards. That is insanely efficient to me. No way in hell I am overpaying for a rx 580 or 480 when I can buy 1070s brand spanking new and resell them whenever i want with legit warranty. I could literally run 6 1070s with a 1050 watt power supply.

Yea if can find RX series at regular price, for sure. I would buy a bunch.

TFLOPs are not always so representative of gaming performance. Fiji punched much lower than its' TFlop suggested it would.
375W, literally the ovens of Auschwitz lmao the power use shilling is going to be incredible if they perform competitively and I hope they do kick some ass. I can't see any other reason for them to OC so high unless they are truly lemons.

The '300W blowers are impossible' and 'no clock difference on the water cooled' crowd - you're eating some crow today with those no high stack HBM2 parts, eh? Not that I'm proud of a 300W blower and 375W H2o model as an AMD supporting type either.
That said, if it's got performance to boot, who gives a fuck? I somehow doubt it though.

Also isn't there supposedly some EU 300W limit on PCIe slot based cards/gpus? Sounds like that just got MURICA'd by Vega lol.

All I can say is that I'm pretty disappointed in AMD releasing a card that will be slower than a 1080Ti, use more power and come to market later.

I'm already holding out for Navi...

Huh? The images indicate that it's faster by 1 TFLOP. This means that Nvidia will be releasing Volta gaming cards sooner rather than later.

this high end card is also a lot more expensive than a 1080ti
and the 1080ti still has some headroom for more clocks
edit:
I seem to remember that AMD and Nvidia calculate TFLOP differently
I think Nvidia uses standard clocks and AMD max boosted

Nvidia doesn't produce a fully enabled gaming card compared to Tesla P100
I'm sure AMD is going to have to drop some kind of specs on these cards to bring them to the desktop realistically as well

rumour from months ago would squeeze a Vega between a 1080 and a 1080ti performance wise

seems to be close enough to me
and spot on for AMD cards from several generations back

high performance, but not best compared to Nvidia
and a year or so late

well at least AMD has Ryzen and miners snatching up all RX cards

AMD TFLOPS /= Nvidia TFLOPS for gaming. AMD has a roughly 40% deficit compared to NVidia's gaming performance per flop.

Um, yeah. Gonna need benches.

Why is everyone talking about 1080's and gaming? These are workstation cards. These look to be at Quadro P6000 levels of performance, if not more, and the P6000 is what, $5,000? At $1,200, these are a steal.

Well AMD made the mistake of comparing it to the Titan Xp, for starters. The Titan line is purely for gaming these days. It really hasn't been "prosumer" since the Titan Black.

Perhaps this will sink in at some point to those comparing them...

They are relatable in some fashions, but not enough to compare, no. I also have to ask about a $500 AIO, is it because of warranty and reliability? Design, licensing? Gold plating on the shroud? That just seems like a lot extra. I guess they probably won't sell an absurd number of these though, perhaps that's it.

Damn, I was thinking of using dual 1080ti cards, water cooled, but a single water cooled Vega might be the way to go. Will have to wait for benchmarks (and Nvidia's reaction...who knows what THEY have up their sleeves!). Still if the pricing rumor is accurate, I am having a hard time thinking that the water cooler gets that kind of premium.

You do know that this card is going to be garbage for gaming, right? The gaming version of Vega should be revealed sometime next month.

just wait for some people to actually bench Vega FE with games. performance wise it should be very close or outright identical to "gaming" RX Vega.

Yeah, because the Titan X plays games like shit, right? What the hell are you even talking about?

FE = Frontier Edition, and X399 > X299?

Looks like AMD marketing hired a bunch of smarta*sses. Very amusing smarta*sses :)

See my earlier post. The Titan is a gaming card. The Vega FE is a professional card more akin to the Quadro or Tesla line from NVIDIA, whose performance focus is GPGPU (including FP16, FP64 and INT8 hardware with drivers that focus on computing output). The Titan Xp does not have the double or half precision components like the Quadros and Teslas do, and it runs on GeForce drivers with a focus on gaming.

Gonna be a lot of "but... Mah gaming!".

(I will admit, I have little knowledge of workstation hardware)

Not smartasses, but idiots.
Confusing naming schemes are a double edged sword. I think they stand to loose more on it than gain by it.

Yeah, but "Frontier edition" ? That sounds like something you'd call your flashy gaming card, not your workstation aimed professional hardware. If I was a manager authorizing a pro card I wouldn't buy shit that sounds like a gamer card. Everyone at accounting would think I was buying a gamer card on company doe.

Epyc server parts tell you the rest doesn't it ;)

Someone with a Quadro card already showed it destroys Vega FE. Pretty much hardware acceleration vs none. And that's why they used the Titan for a BS PR claim.

Lol, I think I will wait for reviews. The cards are rather nice looking. Performance?

I'm guessing consumer cards will be priced at 1080ti levels then, thinking 699/599/499. I'll be buying one up, I don't think it's gonna be a profitable card for miners, ROI window is too long.

These 290X's of mine are pulling 32.5Mh/s each, undervolted -50mv. Kinda funny a 1080ti pulls the same. Hawaii has aged quite well, good investment 3 years back!

I revised one of the AMD marketing slides. Maybe I should have said 20-50% disadvantage instead of no? I don't understand why they would include a category and fail to notice how bad it looks, but I don't understand marketing period.
