Looking for a new monitor to replace a 24'' Acer 60hz ~$100 monitor I currently use.

I play CSGO and a few other games, so primarily gaming purpose.

I have been looking for a 27''/144hz/1440p/IPS monitor.

Should I stick with 27'' or just stay at 24'' with 1440p due to pixel density and I read something about quality control on some 27'' IPS monitors?

I assume there are not many choices for my wants but figured I would ask.

I have a i5-4690k OC'd to 4.3ghz for daily use and to keep vcore below 1.2. Also just purchased a GTX 1080 and both are watercooled.

depending on how close you sit to your monitor I recommend the 24", its cheaper, it is not as big of a panel so you have more of the 'data' in your eyes easier. I can understand how large monitors give you that 'immersion', but for competitive play I don't think it makes a ton of sense.

I recommend: Samsung CFG70 Series 24-Inch 1ms

1ms response time, 144hz, VA panel.

Better than a crappy TN panel IMHO without the price of the IPS panels. Most TV's use VA tech.

Get a 27"/144hz/1440p/IPS. Keep an eye out for the next month as the prices will be dropping. I think the 4k/144hz/HDR models are coming out in June which will drive the price down on 1440p.

What do people envision 2k to mean? It has a different meaning for everyone. OP said 27" 1440p, so I given the size it's certainly 2560x1440 and not the wider 3440x1440. It is a perversion to call either 2k - a term that sometimes also gets attached to 2560x1600 or 2160x1440, and even 1920x1080 occasionally.

QHD (2560x1440) and UWQHD (3440x1440) terms are designed to remove any misinterpretation and require hardly any more typing, and certainly save space compared to the full resolution. I admit the existence of qHD (960x540) may result in confusion if a user does not carefully consider their use of capitalization. Stay strong.

I might recommend TN panels if you're driving focus is gaming. If you can live with the obvious drawbacks. That's what I went to, after previously having an IPS, because I did not want to play the 27" IPS lottery.

Yeah, I have heard about the IPS lottery. Is that for only for 27'' or are 24'' in the same AUO lottery?

I sit within two feet of my monitor so maybe 24'' is better for me due to that distance. I don't mind going with 24'' but I don't want to sacrifice 1440p or 144hz. 4k would be nice but I want the 144hz for FPS and racing games.

I have never owned a IPS monitor so I don't know how much of a difference it would be over TN. But, reading the hype about it makes me want one of IPS but depends on the panel lottery.
