Radeon RX Vega Discussion Thread

Raja has a beard now.
And he thinks he is funny! You couldn't make a corporate dude out of this guy ever. As soon as he starts reading slides he turns in to a robot. Hahaha. They should just tell this guy just go chill on stage. Just much better.

It was definitely cringe worthy at the beginning.

Raja touting marketing. You know how you could rebuild? Maybe convince your market your not dead. FFS, release Vega already!

omg I can laugh all day at this guy. The Gold one! Hahahahha. Raja is writing a book today.

One person that is worse than me at presenting and can't stay on topic is officially RAJA! We do laugh at stupid shit the same though hahahaha.

If you can stay on topic, it huge step above Raja.

Raja is an asshole. He is going to spend his 29 min talking random shit and then show 2 seconds of Vega!

Sniper elite looked closer to 1080ti. Or little below it. I was averaging in the 60s. 1080ti 4k is 68fps average checked on Guru 3D. So looks like we will have something in between 1080ti and 1080. May be closer to 1080ti best case.

Well, that defeats the division of CPU and GPU divisions for AMD. Double down on heterogeneous computing.

But without knowing what settings were use, hard to make that assumption, I can only hope it be close to it but not holding my breath.

deep bench, not bad 40% faster, should be with the amount of Tflops of FP 16 its got. And Raja, stated he isn't declaring they are faster than nV. Well that's all folks.

Absolutely nothing lol.

Frontier edition Vega is coming with 16gb end of June.

Every time these streams come up I skip them and every time people give Raja shit for being a bad talker/presenter.. I didn't feel that way at all. One of his better days?

Here's a screenshot of that deep bench vs. P100.

Vega Frontier Edition has 16 GB of memory and will be available in late June. This seems to be targeted at machine intelligence users, not gamers...

Guess I was wrong about 16GB using GDDR, it is using 16GB HBM2, wonder if it is 2 stacks or 4.

So I didn't catch anything about when consumer versions of Vega are going to launch. Did anyone else? If not then does that mean their 1H2017 Vega launch will only be for this machine intelligence card?

Oh man, I thought the Capsaicin event was troll-worthy enough.

"Whether we win or lose, AMD will be on the charts!"

It's sounding like the worst rumour (16,000 units/short supply) was true, and AMD will try to save face by marketing the Vega Frontier Edition as a 'creators GPU'.

I guess AMD really wants those machine intelligence dollars over High-end gaming.....or is that rumor of limited HBM supply true? Still, you would think AMD wouldn't be able to sell 16k gpus to datacenters....

So VEGA is more of a deep learning card than a gaming card, I called that months ago. They're way more concerned with capturing the data center and developing neural net when it comes to GPUs than competing with Nvidia in regards to gaming. It's a pretty smart way to line align their products.

They were probably like, "F it, we can't compete with 1080 Ti for gaming so we'll make a compute card and market it for Deep Learning and sell it for more money than we could get for a gaming card." Maybe that's where all 16,000 units are going.

My impression is AMD is opting to use cheaper across the board products designed to be "good enough" to compete on price/performance.
