Hi all, weird issue here. And I'm afraid my SSD is dead.

A few months back, I purchased a used Samsung 830 SSD from another member here.

I received it, tested it, and it was fine. I changed from GPT to MBR, as my plans for it would only work as MBR.

Tested it again, and it was perfect.

Set it in a drawer, and never looked at it again. Until today.

I finally got off my butt to do the project, and plugged it in. Said needed a format. OK. Windows failed. So I tried Easus. Works, but after format completes it says needs formatting again.

In a loop.

I've tried a couple of free diag tools, but couldn't really get any to work.

Although WD data lifegaurd long test said too many bad blocks.

So, Is it dead?

And if so, how? It just sat in a drawer, in static bag, in a box, for the last 5 + months. No one touched it.

Yes, that is why I suggested the SE. My guess is the internal mapping table is corrupt.

What does it say when you use disk management tool in Windows? Does it show the actual storage space? If so, the drive is not corrupt. Use advanced format in that case.

Just realized I never thanked anyone here. Sorry. I tried the suggestions, and they worked! The SSD has been running fine now for 2 months. Thanks, guys!
