I have a client that wants to replace the hard drives in about 50 systems with SSDs. I've been using Samsung Evos and have been happy with them, but for this many systems it might be worth using a less expensive drive if there's a drive that has similar reliability to the Evos.

If it matters, the systems run 64 bit Windows 7 Pro, have SATA 3 interfaces, i7 processors, 4GB RAM and use typical office applications plus a custom app. Typical 8 to 5 M-F environment, what I consider light duty.

Crucial maybe? I have installed well over a dozen in the past 5 years and haven't had any fail. sizes from 128GB to 960GB.

I have been beating on these for about 6 months and they seem to be holding up:

They are not the fastest drives around but for the price they do pretty well. And they normally go for about 30 bucks less than the Evo's.

I have been running 6 of them in a test server in Raid 10. (They are really not recommended for that.) Dell 710 with a PERC 6. I also put one in my daughters desktop. All have been running fine. No issues. The EVO's are probaly the most reliable, but if you are willing to take a small step down you can save a lot of money with the PNY phison based drives.

I'll look at these as well, thanks.

In terms of stepping down in reliability from Samsungs the customer is willing to do that to save some $$ now. If the systems last another 3 years they'll be happy, because they intend to switch to an entirely new environment in 2 years with new gear but the current environment has to keep on keeping on in the meantime. I figure it will take longer than 2 years of course, so I'm shooting for 3.
