Bad overclock, Bad heat even with soldered TIM, OC benchmarks dont appear to be beating stock 7700k with an extra 1ghz of headroom. Good price though. Bah!

(wccftech article)

I was really looking forward to it, but not so sure now!!! Clock speed is still king for the time being in desktop land and I really wanted to see Ryzen a bit higher than 4g's TBH. See what other results tomorrow brings :)

Nice supporting details.

first post the forums to complain with no numbers or anything to support your claims.... yeah......

Another clickbait Intel troll.

The way you say. Bah! Gave it way as you clearly have a bias.

When I asked what pro should I get in another thread 1800x or 17x and Kyle posted 1700x!!!!!

That one line was enough to convince me he knows crap that trolls like you are going to hate to hear.

The damn figures are not out. NDA hasnt even lifted yet lmao....

I don't think anyone here is expecting to hit the silicon lottery on a first gen 8 core CPU.

Simplyfun- yeah true I guess. Was hoping for a little bit more so i could ditch my golden x58 rig.

Guys, I couldn't care less which brand my processor was haha. Waiting for the 1800x OC figures tomorrow.

My last comment on it, but who do you think you are fooling, acting like a regular who's been here when we all can see this?

The only article WCCF has about Ryzen overclocking is the 1700 overclocked to 4Ghz on the stock air cooler.

troll or not the initial figures are not promising; wccftech is showing 1.35V@4GHz, the leaked Iranian reviews were showing 1.4V and some obscene power figures (double the power consumption going from 3.4 to 4).
the current marketing pits it against Broadwell-E, which it does well against even if you look at OC'ed performance (you really have to put up a fight to get Broadwell much past 4GHz), but if your application is truly single-threaded and you enjoy overclocking Kaby Lake is the way to go; between what looks like a 10% IPC deficit and a 20% OC'ed clock speed deficit KBL is a solid 25-30% ahead in single threaded performance.

HOWEVER, both data points were collected with terrible cooling. If behavior is anything like Broadwell, the required voltage (and hence power consumption) will go down with temperatures, so substantially more headroom may open up with better cooling.

Im hoping for the best... I would be very happy if a 1700 gets to 4 easy, a 1700X can do 4.1 to 4.3 and the 1800X gets 4.3 to 4.5. Considering how some motherboards have a built in dial and have the 1800X max out at 4.4 is a positive sign that thats about what to expect from the masses. maybe you could get lucky and hit 4.6 with great cooling. If the 1800X or 1700X can get to 4.3+ I think im in. I already bought the bracket from corsair I will need. I have a Titan Xp and its paired with a 3930k at 4.6. Its not bad but i REALLY want USB3.0/3.1 and nmve SSD 4x PCI 3.0!! Fingers crossed everyone!

Ah, there are people who speak sense here! :D :D Re: cooling, yep hope so. Looking forward to tomorrows benchies.

P.S

Hi guyz Intelz <3!!!

someone kick this asshole off

@themaidenmaniac I don't know if you are sincere or not, but if you can't see how your approach at informing us may come across very troll-like, then hopefully it will at least be a learning experience! :p

Will OP please kindly remove the Intel CPU from his butthole. It appears to be causing some severe hurt back there. Must be the sharp edges.
Didn't you know...? That's what prompted Intel to switch to LGA!
They'll probably give the substrate rounded corners when they finally get their 10nm process to cooperate.
Each Retail boxed Intel chip will then come with a small packet of KY Jelly to aid in rectal insertion of their chip once it's no longer being used.
That'll probably be the next thing Intel cuts back quality on and we'll be hearing about #LubeGate...
"Intel's latest batch of their CPU Retirement Lube has been causing an outbreak of hemorrhoids in users due to their latest batch of lube under-performing, causing it to have a very high friction coefficient. De-hairing your butthole has been proven to aid in the insertion process."
Though, I'm going to plead that Kyle please, please abstain from providing us any pictures or videos! :wtf:

Ya know, I read an article that an emerging business in China is paying people to go on internet forums and essentially trash enemies or praise your company while pretending to be a real person. Apparently its a growing business, and if you notice, this guy is repeating the same-ish English phrases in slightly broken English, and NOT REALLY engaging in a conversational tone with the native language speakers here.

In other words, I think this may indeed be a literal shill.

Oh man do we have another bulldozzzer?
/s

Nope.

But if you're expecting something that slaughters Intel's high end you will be out of luck.

If you ordered a CPU, I expect you'll have gotten your money's worth against Intel's 8 core offerings.

Again, I just want it to be 90 per cent of current IPC overall at prices that force change.

I have a hard time believing Zen is going to run hotter than Kaby Lake w/ solder. 8c vs 4c matters, though.

You realize you just bitched about a 3ghz chip clocked 1ghz on stock cooler with reasonable temps. 82c on stock cooler if I am not mistaken lol. Don't get mad if people call you out on it. No matter if you are a fanboy or not, but when you just make a thread and bitch and it looks like you didn't even read the article, it just feels like you are trolling.

Newbies comin' in and messin' up the house. Dang. H100 or even H80 fix dat right up. You see as temperature rises, resistance rises.... Uh, who's teachin' the EE class around here?

lol delid and re-paste shaves off like 100W of dissipation. Solder will be even more.
I'm not sure if solder will give you negative temps lol

But mine aren't that hot, on a H80 I was only able to get mine to 80 degrees using Pi, I bet AMD is the same or slightly worse.

De-lidding does not reduce dissipation, it only reduces temps by making it easier to move heat from the die to the heatspreader.

So is Intel paying trolls to infiltrate hardforum now? It just seems weird that some people start an account in the last few days just to dog on ryzen. Don't get me wrong I am an intel fanboy, but this shit just seems weird.

Like all the new Ryzen support accounts? I guess they vanish too now ;)

Honestly it doesn't clock very high.. memory seems low, performance much better. For the $, it's a good buy. For the gamer, the current i7s do just fine. If I was buying a new system from an aging one I'd be buying AMD for sure. They've come a long way with this release.

The 1700 is the one to get for you guys hell bent on AMD, they all overclock the same. ^^ Hopefully the platform matures and they eek a few more ghz out. Feels a bit late to be buying into 1151 as i presume a modified socket for coffee cake.
