Bought the 6 RX480 4GB in Novemeber from newegg. I have until end of this month to return for full refund.

Should I return it and get 3 GTX1070 instead? They have more VRAM, more efficient, and better resell value. I only need to add $100 to get them, but it seems like a hassle to swap the cards.

The hashrate will be slightly lower for Zcash. Considering the pros and cons, do you guys think it's worth the switch?

It wouldn't be slightly lower it would be a tiny fraction of what the 480s can do. If you want to keep mining I would keep them. How much did you pay for each?

Sounds like too much hassle to me. my RX 480s are getting 230h/s zcash v11 claymore, all stock clocks 4gb models. I am not familiar what a geforce 1070 is getting, one google result was 400, not sure if that is accurate.

Geforce 1070 are a better video card for sure, but to me not 2x as good -- and they have a lot more value to lose over time.

You'd be halving your power usage right off the bat, unless you're not paying for power that ought to make it worth it right there

wait... mining is still happening? crap I recently bought a 1050ti. I'd have gone 1070 if I thought I'd have a shot at getting the difference back.

I'd probably keep AMD cards if you plan on mining in the future. Historically speaking nVidia cards have always had poor mining support in the past, while AMD ruled the scene. The 1070 mining ZEC and ETH at rates comparable to AMD is somewhat of a surprise. It's possible that nVidia will be supported well in the future, but two coins don't make a trend. Historically AMD cards have been vastly better at mining than nVidia.

What about all the ASICs board that was suppose to outperform video cards 10 to 1? All just a hoax??

Different chips do different things, but these algorithms have asics.

BTC
LTC
X11
X13
X14
X15
Quark
Qubit

possibly more.

Best to mine something that GPU/CPU is the fastest, unless you want to take a chance with asics.

never use asics they dont remain profitable for long and have a terrible resale val. plus their are plent profitable gpu coins out their.
