When is the new mobile nvidia GPU coming out?

Unless it's changed recently the Razer Blades get very hot and have poor qc. Would avoid anyways.

Have you checked out the Acer Predator G9 laptops? They are offered in both 970m and 980m flavors with a very decent cooling solution.

They look nice. A bit heavy though. The Razer is a bit over 4 lbs and the Acer is almost 8.

I'm holding off for a 1060m (or so) in a laptop personally.

August 19th is when pascal mobile should hit.

My recommendation is an msi laptop though. Very well built and reliable. PM me if you would like more spec advice.

supposedly they are dropping the "m" and just using the desktop variant with dif clocks.

The performance of these new laptops is pretty insane. 95%+ of desktop performance for the 1070 versions.

I feel like this is the generation where we can finally buy a laptop for PC Gaming without it being totally stupid. If the 1060 laptops get to the prices of the 960m laptops, then wow. That would be awesome. Probably won't happen any time soon though.

I'm assuming 1060's won't break $1500 for at least 6months

Ding ding ding, here ya go folks, 1080 SLI right here, $4,999

MSI GT Series GT83VR TITAN SLI-024 Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6920HQ (2.90 GHz) 64 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 1 TB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 SLI 16 GB GDDR5X (8 GB each) 18.4" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Newegg.com

Talking about freakin' heavy!

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 SLI 16 GB GDDR5X (8 GB each)
  • 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6920HQ (2.90 GHz)
  • 64 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 1 TB SSD
  • 18.4" Full HD 1920 x 1080
  • 16.85" x 12.36" x 1.66"-2.52" 13.13 lbs.
  • BD Burner

I don't get why they use the 4K screen with the single GTX 1080 but use GTX 1080 SLI on the one with a 1080p screen. Makes no sense to me.
I think they're using GSync 1080p panels on those SLI laptops. Not sure if there are any 4K Gsync displays for laptops yet.

I checked out this laptop at microcenter last night. Seems a little flimsy to me. How is the overall build quality since you have used it?

It's definitely no MacBook Pro but for the price I'm very happy. Screen is "Good", build quality is "Good", performance is nuts. I didn't have any initial quality issues. No huge bleed in issues, no dead pixels, no missing parts. I am going to game on it, not go into rugged terrain. It will live in a padded backpack or on my desk.

Needed a lighter notebook to game on the go while traveling for work and didn't want to overspend since I'll upgrade every new gfx gen...plus wanted brand name for resale (Sager/Clevo, while better, have shit resale value).

I highly recommend it - it is $300 less than any other 1070 laptop.

More here (pics, vids, benches) - ASUS RoG Strix Gaming Notebook GL502VS-DB71 – Mobile Pascal (GTX 1070)!

EDIT: I will add, the build quality is no worse than the ~$3000 (retail) ASUS RoG G751 (G751JY-DH71) laptop that I had last year (more info).

I have this model. It's awesome. Insane value for $1700 for the power that it has.

Here it is on NewEgg.

I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on this one but it'll be the most expensive laptop I've ever purchased. But then again it'll be faster then my current desktop.

Any other personal thoughts on yours, especially in regards to gaming? Keyboard good/bad? Screen smoothness with G-sync working well together?

Keyboard is good, not great. Nice feel. It's solid. Just no mechanical keyboard. I've never used MSI's SteelSeries keyboards so maybe that's an advantage. Trackpad is just OK - but I use a mouse.

Screen in-game is fantastic. Videos of off-screen and on-screen gameplay at the link I posted above. ARK is a very demanding game. My Titan X (Pascal) SLI setup can't get more than 60FPS consistently (it's not an SLI game though ha).

This preview helped me pull the trigget: Asus ROG Strix GL502VS Notebook Preview

I'd actually read that review already but to get someone out of the business to give similar praise just gives their review even more credence. Thx for that
