Have you ever been sitting around your house on the fourth of July with nothing but 100,000 sparklers and a bunch of glue? Well, that's exactly what is going on in this video but, as cool as it sounds like it might be, I was honestly expecting this to go a lot different than it did.

Well that was underwhelming to say the least - when I read the title I figured they had them wired up to literally all go off at exactly the same time and not just a cascading thing. That's probably what really ruined it overall. Having them stacked and glued so tightly together pretty much destroyed the potential for anything really impressive, sadly.

I'll bet pretty much every person involved with that effectively complete waste of time now realizes it was a silly thing to do in the first place. :)

Now they know, and knowing is half the battle...

About as exciting as watching a fire. Basically like one megasparkler.

Yeah as said they packed them together too tight. Maybe just stick 1000 in a large watermelon.

Lol. I've done the "tape a bundle of sparklers" once, maybe 100 of em. It nearly the same, a bright flame at once,...on a different scale of course :D

Same amount of sparklers wrapped tight in 1000 rolls of electrical would have been more exciting.

That would have been a totally different experience if they would have started it from the bottom.

Those are the best kind to get on film! Lol

This could have been a lot better if they'd put a little more thought into it. They went too big without proving the concept first. It was oxygen starved from the beginning.

Shitty footage but here's a bundle of almost 600 that I did a few years back.

It was oxygen starved from the beginning.

Sparklers, like most fireworks are made with an oxidizer, it is not oxygen starved. Most of the time this is a nitrate or chlorate.

They started to put retardant in them to stop them burning so fast, used to be able t make wicked sparkler bombs by using a big roll of duct tape on perhaps 50-100-150 or so max sparklers. Would leave a wicked crater when it went off. Dangerous as fuck.

Now due to the retardant, you just powder them and stuff it in a confinement vessel... that'll make you one hell of shockwave/concussion/shrapnel if you're too close.. we're talking 10 second echos and more..

You try all the above at your own risk, you stupid fuck.

I kept waiting for a critical mass detonation that never happened. Bummer.

^ I was going to say that they needed to be contained. If you're not controlling the reaction by enclosing it, the result of lighting 1 or 1,000,000 sparklers is going to be the same. They needed to be wrapped or ground up.

And the crowd goes mild! That was seriously disappointing. What was the point of bunching them all together like that? From the title, I was excepting some kind of cool arrangement of sparklers all going off at once. That looked more like a campfire.

First, they should have lit from the bottom, then maybe you'd get 100,000 sparklers going off all at once (maybe, someone mentioned oxygen, which may be an issue), I realize it would go longer if lit from the top but there was too much fire there for me to attribute it to sparklers

Second, that makes me sad... because of the fucking pathetic excuses we have in this state as "sparklers", and it's not that they're inherently dangerous because they explode or go airborne, but just because one too many kids burned themselves they're now "unsafe"... guess what grab the end of the shitty "sparklers" you have and they'll burn your hand too.
