Have some old EIDE(?) hard drives and old laptop hard drives that I need to connect to my PC
What's something cheap that I can use to accomplish this?

I'll try that Amazon device. Thanx

Looking for a device like this. Since you recently purchased one can you confirm if it came with power adapters/how they are connected? There are no photos and the "answered questions" on Amazon seem to indicate that new models of this device don't come with power cords.

Basically if I plug in a drive I need to be able to power it...

I have one of these USB to IDE/SATA adapters and it came with a small power brick that let you swap out a SATA or Molex power plug. Sadly it never worked -- very low amperage, not even enough to spin up 2.5" laptop drives. Possibly defective. If you have a spare PSU around, I'd just "jump start" it (look up a tutorial, but basically you bridge 2 green wires in the 24 pin connector) and use that. If you need something simpler that will see more use I think Thermaltake used to sell a HDD dock that might work. EDIT: All the docks I could find were SATA only.

When reading more about the original linked device Sabrent USB 3.0 To SATA/IDE 2.5/3.5/5.25-Inch Hard Drive Converter with Power Supply and LED Activity Lights (USB-DSC9) it looks like it only supports up to 2TB drives and the external power connectors are questionable for newer purchases.

However I found this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MLYV5XY/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
2.5"/3.5"/IDE/SATA/optical drive support, can run 3 devices at once, hot swappable, support up to 6TB, included power adapter, USB3
