I think it is safe to say that the crew at Play3r liked the 480GB Crucial BX200 SSD they just reviewed. If you are shopping for a decent drive at a good price, check out full review.

I think it’s safe to say that the Crucial BX200 480GB SSD has quite a lot going for it when you consider the overall package and all sides to the story. On the one hand, you have a drive which isn’t only just competitively priced, but offers a large 480GB (for an SSD) capacity for a solid price; under £100 for a 480GB SSD.

Nice if you like a SSD that drops to USB2.0 speeds if you copy more than 6GB of data to it.

The MX200 is the drive line you want. The BX200 does not have some other critical things like being able to finish writing in a sudden power failure and they claim some other longevity features. I havn't had an MX200 go down yet and I've used a couple on my data copy systems. They get hammered mercilessly copying customer data between systems and from failing HDs.

If you want something really cheap and big, look at the Mushkin Reactor 1TB. I still might think twice about using it for a boot drive, but they get pretty solid reviews and I've used a few of them so far without issue.

As of right now it appears the Samsung 850 is still the benchmark.
Hyper X savage, Vector 180 are decent but they still fall short.
Course the 850 pro is still the top crop.
Hopefully when Micron gets it 3D NAND down and releases their own version it's great.
Guess it comes down to what controller they use.

I feel dumb for never thinking of that, but what an excellent use case for ssds.
