DOOM's six multiplayer modes are showcased in this new trailer. Once again, just like the last multiplayer trailer, this one is really short featuring barely 30 seconds of actual gameplay footage.
 
i'm really excited though it just doesn't seem like doom. I miss the true to life yet arcade-y sound effects of doom 1 and 2. Oh well. We need to have a [H] gaming server to play on.
 
More Doom 4 Arena. I hope we get some more SP or CO-OP trailers soon.
 
I still can't help but see this and see Halo. No matter how much I try, I can't not see it.
 
Hmm, these are actually rather inventive new playstyles. Definitely intrigued.
 
No duel, no CTF, and no TDM? WTF WTF WTF?

Freeze Tag is loads of fun but that game seems rather slow for it.
 
yeah maybe they're holding out those modes for Quake 4
 
I don't like the trend that seems to be going on of everything having to be bright neon colors. To me that just screams "this is for kids" (Ghostbusters Trailer im looking at you)

This might be fun? but right now -- I'm just not that impressed. Especially enough to drop 50 or 60 dollars + whatever shitty DLC they plan to tag along with it.

Also: for all those being space marines... they seemed overly shiny and clean.

No no no, you have it all wrong. You see the xbone and ps4 cant render dirt at 1080p 60fps, so they had to take that out. The pc version will be covered in dirt, which will make the game much better obviously. Pc ftw!

I'm part of the PC master race -- I Havent' turned my xbox one on in... almost 10 months? To be honest I can't even imagine how one would play a twitch type shooter on console. Unless people just really loved moving/aiming at potato speeds.

options > controls > sensitivity > go from default to 8+ - prepare for a period of rage. Then you'll be ok. :p
 
The moving capture zone is refreshing for me, I've never seen another game employ that type of mechanism. Are there any out there using it?

I grew up on Doom and Quake and thus far the released videos don't have me feeling like it's Doom. I understand the game needs to adapt and evolve with the time, as they were much simpler back then. I'll check it out as a free Redbox rental or during a free play weekend, but I can't justify the purchase with what I've seen so far. Maybe there's more to come however that will change y mind!
 
When I saw that screenshot I said Hey! I recognize that level! It took me some digging to find which level it was... E1M7, "Computer Station". I drew an arrow on the map where it looks like that player was standing for that screenshot: link. Is that deliberate by this Doom's developers? (Admittedly I know very little about this new Doom.) Or am I seeing a resemblance that's not actually there?

That's because the game play and speed are very similar (except for the gore of course). I think that might actually be a good thing though.

Yes, that courtyard. I reinstalled Doom today just so I could go look. This is the spot I had in mind:

The hill is the opposite incline, and the graphics were way better in my memory's eye... but it's the round platform in the courtyard, with the invisibility powerup on it, that really gave me the déjà vu. I hope the new game includes lots of this—not using the same maps over, but new maps sprinkled with recognizable pieces from the old maps. I don't want to play the same Doom over again but shout-outs to the original, nostalgia-button presses, would be cool.
 
As much as I LOVE colour in games, the original Doom and Doom2 (and even Doom3!) were pretty drab, hopeless environments, wheras THIS looks more like Doom™ by Pixar© if you catch my drift.

The same thing happened to Diablo: The originals were so dank and gothic, then Doom 3 is like YAY RAINBOWS.
 
The environments are fine...

it's the body armour... like a love child between Doom and American Gladiators...
 
Looks cool and may be the best MP ID game since Q3 Arena but either I am just way out of the loop or FPS games have just really lost popularity since Q3. Seems most people who are FPS fanatics play either CS, COD or BF. The sci fi FPS have not been popular in the last 10 years. Look how well UT3 did and it was a great game just like those that came before it.
 
Fingers crossed for the game to NOT go the way of the Siege or the Division...
