I get frustrated when trying to find reviews of gaming mice because 99.99% of them never really discuss the software. And to me, this is the most important aspect. Don't get me wrong, if the mouse is poorly designed physically then the software quality is a mute point because I simply wont buy it.
Take the other way around, however. I have two mice in particular that, had I known how poor the (macro) softare was, I would not have purchased them, even though they are both the best feeling mice I have ever owned:
- Roccat Tyon
- Corsair M95
I don't think you could design a mouse better than either one of those but try using the software.
I don't want to get into the details of why both of those mice's software are so poor but I will give an example of each.
Roccat Tyon: You can NOT setup a macro to play in the three modes I have come to expect from other (even much cheaper) macro programs: Play Once, Repeat While Pressed, and Toggle. If a mouse software doesn't have that, I don't care if it's made out of gold, I won't use it.
Corsair M95: EVERYTHING about the software is HORRIBLE. Just Google it or try it yourself you'll know what I mean in about 1 minute.
So, that being said, and the 3 macro playback modes being one of the most important features I desire in mouse macro software, can anyone suggest a mouse that is a good combination of both hardware design and software?
Thank you,
Twilite
