Check out the pie chart. If this merger happens, they’ll be even bigger than Lenovo (in Japan).

Analysts said the benefits of a tie-up are clear because the three PC makers have been looking to streamline their businesses in a shrinking market. But the analysts see limited scope for greater competitiveness, given there is little room for growth. They doubt the PC titan would be able to come up with new, must-have products, although each would bring special knowledge to the table.
 
This merger would primarily impact the Japanese market and the PC market is mostly driven by the innovations of Microsoft, Intel, and NVidia, not by innovations on the hardware OEm end (at least in my opinion) ... I see nothing wrong with this merger as the economy of scale benefits would make the new company more stable and able to meet the cost pressures of the PC market
 
A correction is needed, Lenovo is a Chinese company not Japanese.
