Poll?
Mine would be games I can't get on console - WoW and DoTA.
If you could pick only one...

Had to pick the first option because peasant graphics actually literally strain my eyes to the point of discomfort, and eventually pain, after as little as 20 minutes. If this was 10 years ago I would have gone with the exclusives option.

Before I had a child I could justify spending $500 for a video game system for myself. As a photographer know I can justify having a great rig because it's works. My personal pov on it.

Sorry, does not compute. What is it about a lower resolution image that causes such a physiological response in you?

I couldn't tell you. I posit that it is a combination of things, like blur, lighting, and low framerate. It's not every console game, though. I played Rise of the Tomb Raider the other night for 4 hours straight without a problem on Xbox ONE. But Forza 6 will make my eyes start to water after half an hour, and if I don't stop after an hour my eyes will be strained and hurt the rest of the day. Arkham Knight on PS4 makes my eyes strain out almost immediately, while the same game on my PC gives me no issues.

don't forget that glorious 50 FOV on the consoles! Vomit inducing.

I had to choose the first one.

I do have some older consoles, but all but the PS2 are really really old and I only have it for the RPGs.

That being said I would really like to bee able to choose the last one as well.

All of the above. Better graphics and customization is definitely a plus, but I voted that I prefer Mouse & Keyboard.

Would "Bragging rights over peasants" qualify as all of the above? You would brag if you have, in respective order: better graphics, ability to multitask + productivity, ability to upgrade your hardware to something more powerful later on instead of waiting 6-8 years, PC exclusives (however, consoles have their own exclusives so it's tied), mods, and lastly, you can have kb/mouse AND the Xbone controller on PC.

So yeah. Lots of advantages to brag about over peasants.

*Free online play

Kind of a combo of that + better graphics options + >60fps + KB+M (or controller choice if you want to) + Steam sales.

Better graphics. I've always loved cranking up the eye candy and seeing how great it would look (even if dropping to 3 FPS!). I drop it back down to get better performance. Now, I'm fine with amazing graphics, high resolution and high framerate. That, and Steam sales. If console games had sales that good a couple times a year, I'd stock up (I do when I go to the Microsoft store... $30 for Halo 5, Forza 6...).

I'll still play on the console, though. Not a thing wrong with them. I'm still playing games, and in the end - that's what I enjoy. May not be as pretty, but it's ignored when you're in game kicking ass. They aren't slouching too bad, anyway.

But, I grew up with Commodore 64 vs. NES. I played both, but always had the "C64 is better!" mentality.

All of the above. Plus I prefer sitting at my desk in my chair. Going over to the TV set is inconvenient, even if it's literally 5 feet from me. I don't even watch movies on the TV, just the monitor.

There is no one reason above all.

Better Graphics, Better Experience, Better choice with controls(pad or key/mouse), higher resolutions, better performance, build my own gaming system. The list could go on forever. I have tried consoles many times and just cant stand them.

I couldn't pick one. The only REAL way to play games is PC+Nintendo.

No subscription to play P2P multiplayer, cheaper games, and can fix my own hardware.

My reason isn't on the list. Backwards compatibility with older titles and emulation.

The ability to play a wide assortment of games from the DOS era up to latest titles like Fallout 4 is what really draws me to the PC.

Multiple selections was not an option BUT for me it would be these 4:

Most important thing for you?
Better Graphics / Resolution/ FPS/ MultiMonitor etc
The joy of building your own rig
Prefer Keyboard/Mouse over Controller

I picked the joy of building your PC but the superior graphics and I just prefer keyboard and mouse over gamepad all day. Those 3 are tied for me.

and console backwards compatibility :D

Is there a way to vote for all of the above

Really though, I'd pick alt-tabbing, mods, and better controls.

Yeah, exactly.

Console emulation is is huge draw to me personally. As for the consoles in which emulation is too CPU intensive? Well, 90% of those games can be played nativley under Windows.

A PC can run everything from NES titles to The Witcher 3 and everything in between. It's a gamer's dream really.

I like my PC because it keeps my virginity in tact. As well, bragging rights, because online, everyone thinks I'm hung like a moose, but in reality.....Vienna Sausage.
..... and the fact I love spending thousands every few years to play on medium settings. :)

First option for me, I love having high settings to make the game look better along with a big screen and so on.

None of the Above immersion is the top of my list if I can't get into it gets neglected.

I voted frame rates/graphics but in reality these are all equally tied for me:

- Exclusives.
- Better graphics/FPS.
- Mods.

I don't play any crappy free to play or subscription games though. :D

Fuck forgot to add this. this was important one

With Steam sales not being as great as they once were and with new console games often being cheaper than their PC counter parts when new it doesn't hold true as much as it used to. You can often find big name AAA games at half price on console at Amazon before the big PC digital stores give big discounts.

I can't believe nobody chose mods. I had to pick it just because.

Maybe mods aren't as big as they once were, but back in the UT days, custom content was all the rage. And it was all free! No sign of the cancer that is DLC.

There are many great things, but to me the #1 thing will always be 60fps. I can't handle that 30fps nonsense the consoles have adopted.

really, all of the above are valid reasons. some apply better to others, but I love debating with my console friends.
