Free* Verizon LG G4

I just did this. Sadly the phone doesn't seem to available anywhere in my area in stores. So when I get my LG rebate and 300 dollar bill credit I plan on canceling and that will just accelerate the device payments to the final bill and it will deduct from 300 dollar credit and pay the remaining balance with LG rebate card. Works out fine either way.

I gotta admit. This is looking like a really good deal, especially when you consider the plan cost is only slightly more expensive than Tmobile.

I also just found out that existing verizon fios customers get 200 off their phone instead of the 100.

Whoa! Do you mean the coupon? Or what is this discount in regards to? Verizon offers that credit of 300 for new lines if you trade in a smartphone. LG does the $100 and a $200 MiR. Are you saying verizon adds an extra $100 discount to FiOS customers? Because I am one.

please confirm this cause i really like for my kids to get this for me since they are with Verizon

edit: nvr mind. i see that verizon fios customers have tv, internet and phone service with them.

When I went to the LG home page it said in order to get the $200 rebate the purchase date had to be between 9/14 and 10/4. Is there a newer deal?

I can't find it, but I guarantee the $300 trade in offer has a similar requirement AND IF NOT then my guess is they will hit you with an early termination fee of around $240.

you can guess and guarantee all day long

what it will come down to in the end is what is written in the terms

yep i got them to apply this at my local store, along with the 300 trade-in. came to like 50 bucks left on the phone, which i just paid immediately in store.

the new plans have no stipulation of early termination. there are still a few items in the store that give you a discount with a 2 yr contract. However in the case of phones that no longer exists. I triple checked with multiple people at the store about cancelling. the answer each time was that the only stipulation to keeping the line is paying off the phone if doing monthly payments. if the phone is paid you are then on a month to month and can cancel whenever. Of course when you call to cancel they will do all kinds of stuff to try to keep you on, but otherwise there is nothing anywhere that i can find or have been told that locks you in.

that said i almost bit on the tablet for the bigger rebate, but i didn't want to get locked into the 2 year.

How would this work if I am currently under contract with them right now?
My upgrade isn't ready until June 2016.
Any advice?

Should be able to just add a line to your plan. Ask them to change your number to this LGG4 and they should be able to either move your existing phone to the new line or add a random phone to the plan so they can move the LGG4 as your actual device. This is how I did it. That new line will have the payoff amount that you owe on the phone even though it won't match the G4 device.

No idea if that makes sense but hopefully it does.

Adding a line is what, $10 a month?

Plus contract for 2 years?

I'm wondering if I do this deal, add the line and then I can just cancel the line as soon as I pay off the G4, correct?

It's $15 for each extra line on your plan. I don't know if that would be different in other areas, but it's $15 here in CA.

No contract required!

You are correct! All you need to do is add the line and cancel once you pay off the phone.

You can't do this if you are on a 2yr contract unless you start another line also.

But if the contract ended, then it should be possible, right?

This looks like a pretty nice phone, but killer deal if you can get it at this price.

So I got one this evening.

They had no clue about the LGG4SAVE though and just waived the activation fee and "discounted" the phone to 549.95 so I am going to try calling VZ tomorrow to see if they can fix it.

And even if they won't, it will still come out pretty much a free phone except for the out the door payment of $49... not sure if they did that wrong as well.

I was at the VZ store for about 2 hours because they had no clue AND their computer system was continually screwing up... as in it wouldn't load anything.

Oh, and I have to wait for a text to come so I can get a code to put into the VZ trade-in page to get the $300 trade in amount. They would not do an in-store trade-in, but I am pretty sure that that is standard practice around here.

Oh, and this G4 blows the Galaxy S5 away from what I have seen so far. Still not quite fast enough for the resolution the screen is in some stuff, but even so, it is still faster than the S5. And there are actually more graphics effects in some games, such as Castle Clash.

Yeah I'm liking it quite a bit so far, it really blows my S4 out the door. I just wish there were some custom roms for this, but the bootloader is locked. I got a 10b version from the store here in town and there's some rumors floating about that someone may have figured out how to unlock the boatloader with 0 versions, so here's hoping.

How did they not know about the promo code? I would go back to the store and pull up the verizon.com shop to get the $100 off. http://www.verizonwireless.com/devices/. It's literally right on the page.

Yep, I even showed it to them. They said that there wasn't any way for them to enter it.

Edit: I just finished a an online chat session with Verizon and they are going to apply the $100 discount to my account.

So much easier than trying to get it fixed at the store.

I got my G4 on this deal, so far I love it. Once I got home from the VZ store, I just swapped the SIM card with my Note II and was off and running.

So Just wanted to give props to the op completely missed this on slickdeals. I got one and my wife got one, they automatically applied the fios deal for 200 of on the first phone so that was quite nice.
Looking at
204 owed total for the two phones
38 for the tax and a temper glass protector(the guy made sure they removed the $27 dollars worth of tax on the first phone so gave in)
78 or so for one month service
so 320 total cost with $400 in rebates coming
Also told buddy he picked up two as well, I think at this point these are completely sold out in the Philly-Central pa area.

It's no longer $15 to add a line, if you are on the new shared data plans (S, M, L, XL, XXL) it is now $20 per phone. If you are still on the older MORE EVERYTHING plans you can still add phones at $15 per line.

This has been a great phone, although I already have a Note 4 and I REALLY can't decide between which I want to keep.

Thanks. been trying to convince my kids to get me this phone. they are still skeptical that under the dpp it will still be under contract even if paid off. they're thinking its a gimmick somewhere.

LOL your kids have a "too good to be true" syndrome.

yea that maybe the case but they been with verizon for awhile. being under 30 they think they know everything. these young folks now a days

Thanks a lot! I didn't see this thread until the day after the original rebate ended, but I just got online and ordered it under the new rebate timeline. I keep all my old phones, so am trading in an old HTC Rezound. I have 4 lines and another old phone, I wonder if the rebate can be used for another one? It says one per person per household. Even so, two phones for $200 isn't bad.

I don't understand why Verizon would just let this robbery go on. Are they now a charity organization?

Not really. Most people are account holders. so they are paying verizon regardless. Everyone is getting the 300 dollar no matter what as long as they pay off the phone. So when you get the credit you can cancel the line and it just accelerates the payments. Whats making this deal sweet is LG, if LG didn't have the 200 dollar rebate i doubt this many people would be taking advantage of it. To end it lg would have to end the rebate but as long as that goes on you can't blame people for taking advantage of a great deal as this doesn't come around very often. LG can stop it in a heartbeat but they extended the rebate again so all they care about at this point is pushing phones!;)

I'm reading through the thread and it looks like people who are month to month with that unlimited grandfathere planned cannot do this huh?

They're not giving you $300+ out of the goodness of their hearts. They're giving you $300+ back in rebates so you'll continue using a phone that can only be used on their network. Rest assured, Verizon will always 'get theirs' back. Case in point, the extra $20/month they're going to start charging Unlimited Data customers come 11/15 - that's just the opening shot. Pretty much everyone can afford an extra Jackson per month, but soon it'll be two, then a Grant, and so on, and so on.

Also, the G4 isn't made by Apple, so I'm guessing they've been sitting on a shitload of them.

I too think they're probably sitting on a ton of inventory.

Its a great phone though, I love mine. I've been eyeing a G4 since they launched, but for some reason held off. I couldn't argue with free.

So my mom is just about coming off her 2-year contract and I was talking with her about this deal, since this is right up her alley.

Just making sure I/we understand:
1.) Terminate said ending contract on her phone in specific (we're all family plan'd together)
2.) Trade in her present raging POS phone (other option is skeet shooting)
3.) Establish a new monthly line rolling over her present number.
4.) Take care of all the appropriate rebates/etc.

Is that right?
