Well, anyone who drinks or smokes is also pretty much in the same category as any other drug addict. There's only a tiny bit less disgustingness about it because it's not illegal (though it should be) and I don't do drugs, haven't done drugs, and never will because I'm not that weak minded or defective.

No, the argument, "Go use drugs to understand how smart it is," is as stupid as saying, "Go kill someone because it's not that bad and you have to experience it to know better." That's something someone who is too selfish and addicted to their habit will say to justify that illegal thing they treasure above everything else and not something any other rational person would say. It's pretty easy to see something is stupid by looking at it from afar and seeing the wrecked leftovers of people that it leaves in its wake without becoming one of those societal rejects yourself.

The problem is that you only see the the bad, but.. you do know that a lot of very important people, people smarter than you, way more acomplished than you, who have actually molded the course of human history, have tried drugs whatever they may be. And many you would not know.

Sorry, if you take an illegal drug even once, you're willfully throwing aside all that's good and right in the world in order to have some temporary, chemically induced pleasure at the cost of everyone and everything else. You're an addict and don't deserve to be a member of any orderly, civilized society that depends on the efforts of a lot of people in order to accomplish great stuff together. People like that should be shunned and prevented from perpetuating their broken lineage through their children.

You have a very twisted view of the world. You essentially think the vast majority of humans shouldn't be allowed to have children and I guess you feel the same about certain species of Dolphins, some Elephants, Monkeys and probably a few other animals that like to get drunk.

Used to see the little flappers get so drunk they would pass out eating pyracantha berries and flop all over the place not able to fly.

Yeah, smoking pot and killing someone are about the same thing. Sorry if that doesn't make sense to you, but that's the way it is, always has been, and always will be for normal, sane people who aren't doing that nasty stuff.

And whatever, no one worth anything has ever taken drugs. Most people who are famous were falsely given that identifier either by someone else or by themselves to trick a large number of defective people into becoming fans of whatever idea they were presenting. *shrugs* Or some other drug-addicted person made that up to give being addicted some sorta credibility.

That is not a funny thing. Alcohol is extremely toxic to birds, and when you fly and have hollow bones for weight savings being inebriated can lead to a very fatal crash landing, and not being able to fly means you are prey to any predator in the area. You humans may think drunkenness is amusing to watch because it's engrained in your culture, but intoxication in the wild, where you can be someone's prey in a moment or suffer an injury where there's no hospitals or doctors to help you, is no laughing matter. It's deadly.

If you want to conjure an argument in support of recreational drug use then find your justification elsewhere. Leave my feathered kin out of it.

While I entirely disagree with your stance, I appreciate you sharing it. I've never heard such an emphatically negative stance articulated before and would love to have you clarify if you don't mind. I'm being 100% serious, so don't take this as sarcastic or trolling or anything, I'm just genuinely curious.

-Are you against altered states caused by external forces (drugs/alcohol/etc), or is it the altered state in general that you are against? (achieved via mindfulness, meditation, sensory deprivation, etc)

-Are you against usage of classically illegal drugs when used legally to treat specific medical conditions, such as psilocybin (mushrooms) for chronic cluster headaches or cannabis for frequent seizures?

Good questions actually!

So here's the thing for my thoughts on this. Stuff that people take that alters their minds should only ever be legal for a doctor to approve for usage AND it should always go through a secondary government-operated agency for review and approval (also logging and tracking too so we know where pills go and can hold someone accountable if they start to get into other people's hands).

In the case of stuff like marijuana which is both an illegal drug taken by the world's most horrible people to get stoned out of their minds and can have legitimate medical uses, it should only ever be used if there is no other medicine that can serve as an alternative because we wanna keep the growing of stuff like that to a minimum to keep it out of the hands of all those horrible addicted street bums. Personally, I think if there's no alternative (which there always is as far as I know) then someone with a chronic condition should just have to deal with it, but with so many junkies on the planet advocating medical uses to justify being druggies, I doubt we'd few morally upstanding types would be able to push that through.

I don't go to parties. People drink booze at them, act stupid, and blow themselves, say dumb things to each other, or rape their guests. :( It's never a safe situation so going to one is just asking for a problem.

Yeah. Maybe you ought to try a little LSD... When used with care, LSD is safe, harmless and nonaddictive. Why do you think LSD is harmful? And yes, you can abuse anything, including things that aren't drugs, but LSD is not in any way dangerous. Hell, you can abuse a CRT or a computer's PSU. Open either units up and touch a big cap or the flyback and you might get quite a surprise. But a piece of high-voltage equipment is harmless for anyone that has the slightest bit of common sense, just like LSD.

LSD and psychedelics are a trip inside your own mind. An experience is what you make of it.
 
Perfect human beings like CreepyUncleGoogle don't ever drink coffee, either. Mind altering, psychoactive drug right there. I sure hope those damn coffee abusers don't breed and pass on their defective genes!
