Whats the difference between a managed switch and unmanaged?

HaHa.

It's one thing for the general population not to know, but something entirely different for an individual interviewing for a technical position.

It's shocking just how many people can't answer these basic tech questions. An old manager of mine liked to ask, "What's the difference between a router, a switch and a hub". We used to laugh about the answers he got.

Although now a days that's taken on a whole new dimension of lunacy as many candidates don't know what a hub is, or presume it's another name for a switch.

I had an IT manager who did not know the difference between hyper threading and split tunnelling. He'd use both words interchangeably like they were both network related. He did not really know what they meant other than that they probably made the network faster. :D You could not say no to this guy, so whatever he asked or said, no matter how stupid it was, you had to go with it.
