So my new laptop has SLI 980m's. With SLI disabled, GTA5 works just fine. If I enable it, however, I can see the HUD and hear audio and everything just fine, but the rest of the screen appears completely black. This is the only game that seems to be giving me problems.

If this a known GTA5 issue? I'm running the latest drivers, BTW. I may try reverting to an earlier version later to see if that corrects it.

Works fine on PC. Maybe laptop charger doesn't give enough power for SLI? Don't know, never used such powerfull gfx laptop.

Runs fine on my system. Do any other games exhibit similar problems? Also, what version number (for both game and GPU driver) are you running?

It runs just doesnt utilize both gpu all the way all the time. Maybe it is cpu but i think it is just not optimized

No, this is the only game that's giving me issues. I have other equally, if not more, demanding games running flawlessly. Like I said in the OP, I can see the hud, loading symbol, text, etc all perfectly clearly... it's just the rendered 3D portion that's showing up completely black.

I tried both 353.30 and 353.06 and both exhibit the same problem. GTA is the latest version.

I guess in all reality, it doesn't matter too much as it runs fine on a single 980m, but it requires a reboot everytime which is sort of a PITA. It would also be nice to use 100% of the hardware I paid for

edit: Going to try 350.12 drivers (release for GTA5) and see what happens

edit2: So I tried 350.12 as well and it's still rendering completely black under SLI. I have to assume that it's a bug in GTA itself at this point. I even tried using DirectX10/10.1 modes to see if that fixed it, but nada. I guess I'll just have to leave SLI off for this particular title :\

Charger should be fine. IIRC, it's 330w which is more than the whole system can pull at 100% full load. I would imagine that other games would also be giving me problems but GTA seems to be the only one.

This doesn't seem to be a widespread issue though (or not from the googling I've attempted) :(

Yeah... well I feel like an idiot. As it turns out, I kept trying to launch the benchmark tool which for some odd reason, didn't work. If I load directly into the game, however, it works just fine (and at which point, I can then run the benchmark tool).

So thanks for the help anyway guys lol
