To be honest, when they first announced this movie, I was totally expecting another sunshine and rainbows movie about Steve Jobs. From what I see here, this might actually be something worth watching.

Wow, was he really that much of a manipulative asshole? How does this differ from That 70's show guys version of him?

It's basically the same movie as That 70s Jobs but with a better main actor.

I wish these newer movies would at least pick another time period to focus on, Pirates of Silicon Valley covers the early days just fine!

Enough with this Steve Jobs love fest.... yes he was the force behind Apple but I've seen, read and heard enough about his life. Let the man rest in peace already.

You can watch this, and chase it with THERE WILL BE BLOOD for a true "Assholes R' Us" double feature.....

I have absolutely no interest in this whatsoever. I cannot fathom why we need so many silicon valley based movies in the last decade either. It's not really that terribly interesting. At least rewrite the story so that Wozniak is a cyborg with gun arms or something.

The funny thing is this: In today's environment of Progressive Idealism, suddenly every person under the age of 25 is an armchair socialist, Steve would be a Pariah.

I can only laugh at the thought of him trying to be interviewed on topics like, say, Womens Issues :)
Oh man that would be fun...."Steve rolling his eyes and pulling off his lapel-mic in disgust in 5...4...3...."

Boom Headshot! I love your comment on armchair socialist because its spot on. What I like about this movie is it shows it like he was, a total control freak asshole.

just another movie to be pirated... Yeah enough of sucking a dead guys dick. When are we going to get the Bill Gates story? Hopefully never.

I'm interested in this because of Michael Fassbender. He's my first pick for the next Bond.

I just seen a pic of Steve jobs weeks or days before he kicked the bucket no thanks.
I bet he tours the Fox Conn factories and Chinese landfills that kill off wildlife among other things.

At least Ashton had a resemblance. I like Fassbender as an actor but I don't think he is right for the part. He is too good looking (my wife says).

And don't even get me started on Seth Rogen.

Danny Boyle makes great movies, so for that reason I am looking forward to this movie. Fassbender helps as well.

Really blows my mind how many people (leftist people) idolize that man.

Most everyone that knew him and worked for him said he was a cruel , vindictive a-hole that like to ridicule people and treat people like sh*t in general.
He was SO disliked early on at APPLE they fired him.
He was NEVER the "genius" they hailed him as. Most all the idea he takes credit for he stole from someone else.
He is credited for the GUI interface and mouse.
He saw this tech demonstrated by XEROX in the early 70s, and claimed it as his own.

Put it this way; If it had not been for the Woz; nobody would have ever heard of Steve Jobs.

^^This......so true.

If it weren't for JOBS, WOZ would have never seen the light of day. Steve Jobs knew what was possible and pushed people to do the work required to achieve a GOAL and achieve his vision that we use on a daily basis. Jobs' vision wasn't just with Apple, but also spurred innovation with Microsoft and the competition between the two. Without Jobs and Gates (the idiot), Yahoo would never have happened, Google would have never happened....

People are idiots, and has been proven systematically over centuries.

Cool story bro....

Without Jobs and Gates... it would simply be two other guys...

Didn't know Sorkin has written this until I heard the first few lines of dialogue. . . then I just knew it.

Sorkin's bread and butter is writing powerful people who treat their underlings like shit. Watch any episode of the West Wing. . . the *protagonists* on that show are constantly seen treating their assistants (etc.) as subhuman trash there to be abused by the elites.

It says something about those who love his dialogue and writing (to say nothing of the fanciful worlds he creates where all their biases and conceits are validated).

We'll see. I actually kind of like the first hour-ish of the Ashton's Job's movie but it goes downhill really quick after the halfway mark. Bad writing, not his fault.

And I would love to watch Pirate of Silicon Valley again, but Netflix doesn't have it.

Without Jobs and Gates... it would simply be two other guys...

Not even, no one was even close to what the two came up with. Nor was anyone innovative enough to be as resourceful.

I like seeing Jobs portrayed as the asshole he really was. I would like to see something covering the later Apple years, instead of the start. We've gotten the start several times already.

Did his "glass yacht" ever get finished by the way?

With Danny Boyle and Andrew Sorkin, it almost has to be awesome.

Wow, was he really that much of a manipulative asshole? How does this differ from That 70's show guys version of him?

Yes he was. I don't know if that conversation between Woz and him happened (though I'm sure Woz will tell us if it didn't), but his reputation is at least as bad as what they show...probably worse.

No he wouldn't. He'd be playing it up for more profits. Those kids all buy Apple. Besides, most of these socialists don't have a problem with companies making money....socialism != communism

Put it this way; If it had not been for the Woz; nobody would have ever heard of Steve Jobs.

Mostly agree, but in fairness, it's quite possible that he would have been known for something else. Let's face it, the guy had the vision to stick with Pixar long before it was making anything commercially viable.

Saleman's gotta sell

Not even, no one was even close to what the two came up with. Nor was anyone innovative enough to be as resourceful.

It's all relative and we always remember the "top" in whatever emerging industry. Maybe it would've been a few years later, but technology would've improved and someone would've been in charge to get the credit and one of those people would've been egotastical.

Put it this way; If it had not been for the Woz; nobody would have ever heard of Steve Jobs.

And if it had not been for Jobs, the Apple I would have been a hobbyist computer schematic given away to Homebrew members for next to nothing. It would have been a footnote in early personal computers like the Altair 8800 and the IMSAI 8080.

The line where he says you play an instrument I play the orchestra was basically the simplest way anyone could ever put it.

It's about creators and the marketers though. Many "geniuses" really got where they were because they were able to market themselves and the ideas of others as their ideas.

Creators though, in this case, engineers, tend not to be great with people. They're passionate about their ideas, but it costs them their personal life. Unfortunately, we revere the marketers and associate the ideas with them, and the genius inventors get left behind in the annals of history books at best.

Will we see his love for enemas and his fruitarian diet? If not, still not watching a "Steve Jobs" movie.
