As title mentions, looking to replace my RAT7 mouse.

This is my second RAT7, the first one the middle mouse/scroll wheel button failed after 3 months. My current one 12mths later, the same thing.

Not looking to get another as apparently the internals are shit. Real shame to as it was the most comfortable mouse I've ever used.

I use a claw/finger-tip grip and the adjustable nature of the RAT7 was perfect for my grip (used the raised palm rest pushed all the way to the back).

Ideally looking for a large wide mouse that allows me to rest my thumb outwards. Hate having my thumb tucked in as the ergonomics of most mice allow.

Any suggestions from those that use a similar grip or ex-RAT7 users?

I was in the same boat as you for the same reasons. Although it was the right thumb buttons that kept breaking on mine. After three of them in a few months I was done with them. I went with a Logitech G600. Not the same obviously, but its comfortable (I too use a claw grip) and it hasn't broken on me yet.

Thanks for replyimg Dan tho I already picked up a replacement. Also went with Logitech as the mouse before the RAT was a MX1000 which must have lasted 6-7yrs.

Got a G502 rather than a G600. The damn thing is still too small for my grip but with some creative modding, its now quite comfortable. I taped some extension pads on both the thumb and pinkie finger panels to give it some extra width. Remember seeing a type of gel/rubber one could use on mice to customise the ergonomics. Might have to look into that as my modding work is a bit Frankenstein-esk.

Cougar 700M is probably the best R.A.T. substitute

I did look at the Cougar 700M & the Corsair M65 as well. I definitely liked the adjustable palm rest, wish there were more adjustable mice on the market.

The reason I didnt go with it was the other 2 mice were rated at 20m clicks vs 5m on the cougar. Sure 5m should be plenty but still burnt by RAT switches dying. The other reason was the warranty. Only 12mths for cougar vs the 3yrs for Logitech.
Despite Logitech not really covering the ergonomics for large hands/claw-finger grip users, always found the build quality to be excellent.

I also have a large hand and switched to the G502 after the death of my G500. I currently use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/IMAK-PRODUCTS...d=1432477319&sr=1-3&keywords=smartglove+large
