Verizon Responds To Net Neutrality Vote

That's all you get after you hit your data cap, unless you want to pay for a fast lane.

Is that them throwing a temper tantrum? Awww. Poor fuckers.

I thought it was kind of ironic how horrendously slow their public policy site is.

“What has been and will remain constant before, during and after
the existence of any regulations is Verizon’s commitment to an open
Internet that provides consumers with competitive broadband choices and
Internet access when, where, and how they want.”

This from the translated version. I call BS - Internet access when, where and how they want. No. That is why the FCC is stepping in. They are not listening to consumers.

Fixed.

A visual demonstration of Verizon's response:

They ignore that this law was updated in 1996 by a Republican Congress.
Let the babies have their tantrum.

Big multi-billion dollar companies who all have a strangle hold on the entire industry don't like this, what's not to like from the consumer side of things?

Wow. That old typewriter font on the translation is pretty cool.

“The FCC’s move is especially regrettable because it is wholly
unnecessary. The FCC had targeted tools available to preserve an open
Internet, but instead chose to use this order as an excuse to adopt 300-
plus pages of broad and open- ended regulatory arcana that will have
unintended negative consequences for consumers and various parts of the
Internet ecosystem for years to come.

the existence of any regulations is Verizon’s commitment to an open

Does anyone really believe this stuff? I feel like I've been reading unending stories of Verizon and other ISPs doing every underhanded trick they can get away with for years. If they weren't abusing their position, this regulation would have never been necessary.

Do I believe the government hit something in a rule? probably.

Just like the congress and their bills to do something like give $1000 to every classroom in America, and give them all a $1 million paid vacation every 6 months.

What I think i really funny about this... Verizon is the one that sued and WON against the FCCs previous regulations... the Courts said the limited regulations could basically only be enforced if the industry was in Title II and FCC overstepped its authority unless reclassified.

I'm amazed they think they'll get any sort of sympathetic reaction from the sort of audience that this kind of communication would reach.

yea they want open internet as long as it allows them to make deals to get more money.

You made your own bed, Verizon, so quit crying and go lie in it.

yeah, wait till the government gets involved. Be careful what you wish for. The internet is NOT a utility it is a luxury just like a cell phone. You don't have to have this. Think of it this way you spend billions on infrastructure to then have the US government which knows nothing on the subject is now making rules that you WILL abide by. Still seems fair?

They took our billions for infrastructure and didn't do anything but pocket it.

Also, "the US government which knows nothing on the subject" are the people that built it to begin with.

Obviously you haven't been listening as Mr. Wheeler, during his proclamation of the vote and subsequent QA session with reporters, repeatedly said, the wireless industry has been under Title II regulation for some 22 years. In addition Mr. Wheeler said, and this could be good or bad, this ruling implements half as much of Title II as what is implemented in the wireless industry.

Corporations are people, spiteful selfish little brats, by the sound of things.

What are you talking about? The U.S. government created the damn internet!

The internet the government built was a total joke compared to what private companies have built now! It's like comparing a hot wheels toy car to the space shuttle.

Now tell me again how these ISP's got billions from the government for infrastructure? Maybe because the government got involved in private companies with tax payers money and now you are okay with government regulating it. How did that GM bailout thing go?
