Planetside 2 set to break world FPS record tonight (24-01-2015)

Its happening, the world record for 'Most Players Online in a single FPS battle' currently stands at 999 players, set in 2012 by a sandbox game called Man vs Machine (which really wasnt a game anyone would play, more like a tech test for the purpose of setting the record).

Day to day Planetside 2 already hosts over that number of players on a regular basis but without adjudication its just another day on Auraxis. Tonight the planetside battles team in conjunction with SOE have prepared a special server where we hope to see 1,100 players join and play on a single continent and have that officially adjudicated by the Guinness team and entered as the new world record.

Not sure why I never bothered to play that game, as I did really enjoy Planetside 1. Buddy and I would grab a tank and I'd be blasting like a wild mofo killing slightly more of the enemy than friendlies as he would race around at top speed mowing them down with the tank itself. The amount of players we were able to kill in a 45 second period was insane because of intentionally built choke points that would cause players to pool up.

Planetside 2 is awesome game I just played it to death for the first year or so then never came back.

Hahaha well its a lot bigger now but one thing is still the same, there are so many headless players running out into roads without looking its impossible not to crush a few under your tracks

We did it!! Planetside 2 is now the record holder yay!! New record set at 1158 players!
