Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition

Does Vlad ever take a break? Holy Shit.

Hey now, not many people can have 20 years engineering experience having only just graduated college recently. It takes a special someone to be able to do that and post facts here. Period. End of story.

:D

Can anyone with Diablo 3 experience comment on gear? I know legendaries are worthless without sockets but I was reading the only thing I should focus on is crit chance and critical damage after 70. Other than the obvious Basic stats that is.

Edit: and to ignore the green/red stat indicators in the comparison area of the inventory.

There is such a thing as multiple degrees. I have a BS in EE and and a BA in violin performance that I received as a dual major, a Masters in EE that I got after working for 15 years, and a Masters in Business that I got after that. Time permitting I'll have my Ph.D in EE within a few years

Crit Damage and Crit chance. Ideally want a 10:1 ratio on damage:chance. Beyond that low level torments you want elemental damage % after those 2 stats, on higher torments want to stack elite damage%

Well, Ive been replaying this with my wife and we are about on act 4. My wife has NEVER been a fan of video games but is becomming addicted to this game lol. I too thought Id never pick up this game again after the PC debacle but am thoroughly enjoying it. If anyone wants to play together some my PSN is under Italian_Magic.

We've had 2 nemisis monsters spawn, the first one in Act1 and then last night at the end of Act 3. So last night, Im yelling at my wife "Brittany whatever you do stay away and dont die! I finally want to kill one of these" Just as soon as I saw this....He wipes me out...My wife just looks over at me like im the biggest asshole lol..

Having a blast though!

I made a post in the PC thread with a link to a good page on managing stats in your equipment here.

Equipment with elite damage and damage protection bonuses are few and far between. You'll want to look out for Stone of Jordan (ring that usually rolls 20%+ bonus damage to elites). And you can craft Aughild's set after getting the recipe to drop (neutral armour set that offers 15% bonus damage to elites and 15% damage reduction from elites).

As far as elemental damage, you'll want to find a good weapon that rolls elemental damage bonus. Then choose your skills and skill runes that take advantage of this element. After that it's about finding and/or rerolling your armour pieces to add to that element's total bonus percentage.

You'll pretty much want to follow the above advice in that order: get your CC and CD up to a decent level (at least +30%/+300%), look for those elite bonus stats, and then min/max your elemental damage. This was the easiest and most natural progression for me. The elite bonuses greatly increased my farming efficiency which in turn allowed me to work on elemental damage at an easier pace, but your experience may vary and Vlad's suggested order may work better for you. I will say that adjusting my focus to elite bonuses early on allowed me to jump directly from Torment I to Torment III. I started out barely being able to do Torment I with my Barbarian and now I am on Torment V. Filling out a few more pieces of my equipment should be able to get me on Torment VI.

Way to derail the thread with a BS argument

On the topic of D3 on the console, some observations:

1) at blizzcon it was 2 players locally, I only realized today that you can play four people from your couch - very cool and well done
2) it plays really well for me on my vita via remote play, this is nice in a household where the tv is in use often
3) it took a while to get the console/controller feel down - but I'm now convinced it's faster and smoother than keyboard and mouse for everything except handling gems and skills.
4) I haven't seen this monster hunting thing yet, is it still in? I have gotten quite a few gifts for friends.
5) it is much more friendly for getting kids and/or reluctant spouses to pick up and play. Not sure why, but people are much more likely to grab a controller and join in than sit down at a second nerdy computer station.
6) do you think they'll patch in features alas pc style, or is the game effectively frozen? Ie greater rifts...
To address your last question, Blizzard has already said that they will be able to patch the PS4 and XBONE versions as often as the PC version, with the console patch coming out a little later. The new 2.1 patch for the console will probably be coming within the next week or two from what I've read. Unfortunately the PS3/X360 versions will probably be frozen on version 2.0.6.

I'm sorry, I can't provide a source link while at work.

Good lord...as a EE working on my MBA, how can you keep going back to academia? At some point, don't you want to do something other than work/school with your time?

As for D3, I kind of enjoyed it on the PC, definitely put some time into it, but got bored. So far on the PS4, I am really enjoying it. Fun times just wrecking the place up. Though school starts back up so will likely have extremely limited time to play.

He does, he posts facts here daily. It's sorta like a second job I suppose.

I tried this out on PS4 tonight. It's VERY well done. I actually have more fun with it than the PC version because it's fun to chill on the couch and play it with a controller.. and it has to be said, they did a brilliant job with the UI and control methods. Also local couch co-op ftmfw.

this!

got it for the ps4 it's hella nice

All the positivity in this thread has convinced me to go ahead and buy this game. I was holding out to see if destiny was going to be decent, but that thread is a nightmare. Only have time to really play 1-2games and the couch coop sounds like it might be fun more my wife and I.

How graphic is this game though? I'm sure my 5 yr old daughter will want to play or at least watch if she sees us doing so. I'm really only worried about blood/guts and profanity though. I don't think the fantasy elements carry over into real life like shooter games. So I'm not overly concerned about her using a sword to smash demons kind of deal. I also picked up minecraft. So worst case we just play that together with her.

Must, resist, urge, to grab a PS4 just for playing with people locally....

The console version sounds neat. Does it look great as well?

it doesn't look that great, I wish consoles could do decent AA, but in game, when killing baddies you hardly notice. It's hella fun. We should get a PS4 [H] game going, I'd like to have cool guys to do dungeons with than random kids

PS4 version has been crazy fun. I am slow and just completed the first act, but totally hooked. I bought it on the PC but never played it much at all.

There can be explosions of blood localized to the mob it happened to, but there are abilities that could make it propagate. I'm also pretty sure there is no foul language at all in the game. The ESRB rating only lists the M-rated features as "Blood and Gore" and "Violence." The art style is pretty cartoony, so I don't think there would be any confusion issues here.

The above is for the base PC game, but the synopsis and rating is the same for Reaper of Souls.

whats your PSN id? I'll raid with you and you can level up big time with me.

So after getting a refund for destiny I picked this up. Made myself a witch doctor at lv 6 now, how do witch doctors do for end game loot runs and such?

So gotta say, very impressed with this game. So glad I got rid of destiny for it. Went with a crusader instead of a witch Doctor, been playing a lot with a friend and its a blast. I love the fact it auto buffs you, he has more play time so he is about 10 levels higher than me, I join his game and it just buffs me to match him and we quest together. They did an awesome job on the friend/party mechanics.

We both started on hard instead of normal and its a perfect starting difficulty, can't just face roll the controller but you don't die every 5 min either.

Witch Doctors are glass cannons of the highest order. You have to rely on your pets because you'll be dead if you get hit more than twice, but they do have the ability to get some of the highest clear speeds on Torment VI. Try to get to 70 and equipped before patch 2.1 drops on consoles and enjoy 1,000,000,000+ damage critical hits.

Crusader, Witch Doctor, and Demon Hunter are probably the easiest classes to get to Torment VI viability. Monk and Barbarian are definitely the toughest.

alright, i'll add you i'm a lvl 22 paragon crusader (I've heard of 300+ lvl guys)

Finally I can start playing the PS4 version...

the update adds a bunch of cool things, it's is a lot more fun now. Got a gem that gives me 2100% poison damage over 10 seconds to all my attacks, it's pretty cool and has helped me become relatively relevant

Few quick questions for you guys...

I'm playing a crusader on T1, it takes me a while to kill most things except trash mobs...

I have a few random legendaries, set gloves (Akkhan).

I got a chest yesterday w str/vit/socket and some random nonsense properties. I rerolled the socket to 3 sockets and put some str gems in it.

I just try to do 5 bounties a day, get that package from Tyrael. I spend my shards at the lady on whichever slot is weakest. Is this the best way to do it?

Can the lady give set pieces as well as legendaries?

This is the way to do it yes.

But diablos new loot system is very generous.
To be honest, I've never received a green item slot ever from her, so I'm unsure about that. I don't think she does.

However as you are probably aware, she gives some really good yellow items to help you out until you find a set piece that has been dropped.hehe eventually

Honestly, there are so many different types of sets to try.
Have you used the Diamonds?
If you put a Diamond on your weapon slot, you'll see the elites go down in almost a heartbeat.
I usually start my new characters at t1 or t2 depending on the character. What level are you?

Personally I think Diablo does such a great job in comparing and using your stats to the difficulty you are on,
For instance, they will drop proper gear to you for whatever difficulty you are on.

And now that the greater rifts are out, the new legendary gems are an awesome touch. If you haven't done this, you have to be level 70, which only takes 25-30ish hours to get to if done right.

Are you playing multiplayer? It gets alot easier to mop up packs of elites and you get a ton more loot.

good luck!
and add me on psn if you play the ps4, mscoolmusic

Also have you done the keywarden key drops?

Hellfire ring is a sweet addition to your arsenal

My crusader is 70, only 70 so far. Working on witch doctor next I think.

My weapon doesn't have a socket, I think it has some stat worth rerolling to a socket, will look into that. Last time I checked at the enchanter I didn't have the required materials to change my legendary gear's properties.

Good heads up on the diamond, I'll try to throw one in if I can get a socket on weap.

I have one keywarden item in my bags, not exactly sure how those work... will have to read up on it.

I will add you on PS4, username is grendel240sx.

i'll add you too, if you don't mind.

it's fun doing rifts, greater rifts, with people and getting cool drops.

So, I just got a PS4, and bought this game for it. It is almost a completel different game from the PS3 version!

If anyone wants to multiplay sometime, look me up: Kelvarr_MBS

I have a Crusader Paragon 132, Wizard level 60, Barbarian level 54, Monk level 34.

i am, i do like eleventy billion damage with a ps3 imported gem haha

Anybody still playing this?

I just picked it up recently. I played D1 and 2 back in the day but never got D3 for the PC. Since I got the PS4 back in Sept I wanted a new game to play and my brother talked me into getting it. I haven't looked back so far. Got a Monk up to Paragon 54 and loving it. I think I have only used 4 health potions on the Monk, the survivability is so high.

Look up my PSN ID if you ever want to play. I think I am up to Paragon 229 now with a level 70 Barbarian, Wizard and Crusader.

wow...no thread update with the 2.3.0 patch that came out a month ago?

Since the last time I posted (October 2014), I have gotten a PS4 and have been playing heavily on that. I'm looking to add some friends for multiplayer action. I am terrified to open up my game and get the cheaters that raise your level or give you modded weapons.
