Did you expect the price of the Xbox One to remain at its holiday promotion price after the holidays? Well check your calendar; Microsoft was as good as its word and reverted back to its regular price of $399 for all of you slow movers out there. :D

Holiday surge now over, Microsoft is making good on its time limit; the $50 savings end on January 3rd.

Wow that's an interesting move by MS to try and sell more units... "lets charge more for or system, it's bound to get more market penetration that way!"

Future of the xbone is dark no matter what they do. Like rearranging deck chairs of the titanic

This is for future promos, if a company never reverts a price back to normal no one will jump at future promos.

Sure thing. If this was a Sony product, you would be all over it and praising it. But since it is a Microsoft product, you are consistent. They must have kicked your dog at one time in the past.

I look forward to justice. The Xbox failing miserable. Not because I'm a Sony fanboy. I've owned pretty much all consoles throughout the years.

I want the Xbox to die because Microsoft stabbed PC gamers in the back, period. The icing on the cake is when tried to push that drm/spy box into our homes. I cannot support a company that repeatedly insults gamers.

When trying to increase your installed base increasing the price is not the way to do it. I was thinking about getting a console but honestly this generation underwhelms.

The Xbox One makes sense at $50 under the PS4's price but not at the same price. Why? Inferior components. DDR3 instead of DDR5? Less GPU units? Other than software those are the only differences between the two. Might as well just call the Xbox One the One Station and the PS4 the One Station Plus.

It's a shame they didn't just get together on this, have Sony spec the hardware and Microsoft write the software.

Pretend that it has a "value" greater than its real market price. Pretend you raised the price of the bundle to its "sale" price, but then have it on sale again Martin Luther King day for Black XBox Ones and a "sale" on GroundHog Day and then Valentines Special, etc.

MS makes money on royalty payments so that's not going to happen. This "current gen" doesn't warrant the money. Maybe next gen will have better hardware.

Holiday sales make you want to give up on modern gaming? That's a very odd reaction.

Traditionally have gaming systems ever gone on holiday sales? (unless they were bundled with a bunch of other crap you don't want). The problem is this was seen more as a price cut, and not just a sale, as a result the "uncutting" probably cheesed off people who were waiting for the holiday store rush to be over before picking one up.. whoops $50 more now.

I realize I'm an IT engineer simpleton without an MBA , but if you were selling much better at the slightly lower price point , and this item was a doorway to tons of continuing revenue possibilities (Xbox Live fee , Xbox market transactions , games etc) , wouldn't it seem to make sense to leave it at the price point that seemed to greatly increase your sales ?

Why? So they can charge $700 for the console because there would be no real competition?

Xbox One has to stay at $350, otherwise people would buy a PS4. But I think it's Microsoft trying to avoid the argument that the Xbone is weaker than the PS4 and by lowering the price it's like acknowledging it. Developers of Dying Light say the ESRAM is now magically making the Xbox super fast. But considering Dying Lights extreme PC requirements I can't help but think that the Dying Light devs are working VERY closely with Microsoft. A bit too close. Enough that it becomes a conflict of interest.

A lot of new games for both the PS4 and Xbox are now nearly the same in restitution and frame rate. PC version of these games are magically stuck at 30 fps. The suspect seems to be Microsoft.

Yeah this is my view as well.

Its stuff like this that makes me want to give up on modern gaming.
Well the thing about modern gaming is there are so many damn options that there are plenty of good games even if half the industry is pulling bullshit.

Why give up on modern gaming when XBONE doesn't even fit that description?

LOL, because too many games are ports these days. AAA titles have really disappointed me lately and there's so much better things to do with my time.

I paid $500 for my xbox one on launch date and it has improved every month while sony has been doing nothing. My 6950s in crossfire struggle at my 2560x1600 resolution so I have been playing gta 5 on xbox one. Its a great console I dont know why you guys are bashing it. All the bashers prob never played one.

I paid $250 for mine and felt like I haven't gotten my money's worth. It sucks ass having to navigate that slow ass UI, or put in a game disc just to play.

On PC, I just hit a shortcut.

Buy your games digital and you dont have to get up. I Think its great that you can resume your game right where you left off after you power off your console. Its a game console not a pc you cant compare the two.

I preloaded it a week before so I didn't have nearly that long of an install time. The GTA V online loading times however are terrible. Not to mention when it fails and puts you back into single player just to wait another 5 min to get into a game with no people in it.

I paid $500 for my Day One Edition, use it every day and absolutely love it. I don't see what all the hate is about, tbh.

1. Xbox and PS4 run GTA 5 at 1080p/30fps. You complain cause your PC can't run the game fluid at 1600p?

2. GTA 5 has very low system requirements. So why does your PC struggle?

3. The game looks like ass no matter what system it runs on. Put zero extra effort into the ports.

4. For $400 I could build a better gaming machine than the Xbox One.

Just install Linux Mint and get your games off Steam. Or bum a copy of Windows from an older PC lying around.

GTA 5 PC isn't out yet, so yeah dude above me there is no way to know how it will actually run.

In any case since Microsoft marketted the low price as a LIMITED TIME offer they are legally bound to bring the price back up for at least some time or face false advertising. After that time they will just say that there will be a permanent price cut "By Popular Demand".

Still the Xb1 is dead in any market that isn't the US of A or UK, this won't change through the generation.

I here you and agree. I have an R9 290x in my system and I still find my Xbox one plays and works great. Lol and the arm chair analyst who claim and Xbox One is dead in this place or that place.:D

Most likely, these are also the same folks who claim AMD is dead because Nvidia gets 3 fps faster in their $300 more expensive card. Gaming Master PC race you are not.

I've found the studios themselves to be more offensive. I only have a dozen games or so, but I think 3 of them require *always on* connection in order to play. I do not like this. And Plants Vs Zombies for example has a very shitty server (connection wise) and is extremely frustrating.

your $400 gaming PC will be obsolete in 1-2 years

No keyboard, mouse, Operating System, Bluray drive or game controller. Oh, and how about speakers or a headset? You cannot beat the price / performance of a console with a PC of the same cost. Never have, never will.

Oh, and enjoy not having that PC if one part fails. Troubleshooting, rma of parts, waiting and on and on and on. This "I can build a PC for the cost of a console and beat it" is very amusing. It is also a very bad argument as well. My PC at home, which I can game on, has a video card that costs only slightly less than the Xbox one.

Xbox One and PS4 were already obsolete when they were released. Why you think I'm able to build a better PC gaming machine for $400? But I'm not the only person telling you it can be done.

Here's some Xbox One games to show you how great that experience is.

Killer Instinct : 720p ,60 fps
COD : Ghosts : 720p ,60 fps
RYSE : 900p , 30 fps
Battlefield 4 : 720p , 60fps
Titanfall : 720p , fps unknown at this point
Assassin's Creed 4 : 900p , 30 fps
Dead Rising 3 : 720p , 30 fps

Everyone has a keyboard and mouse because EVERYONE HAS A PC. I already explained the OS but if you can't find a copy lying around then buying the OS costs as much as a Xbox One with the Kinect. Also seriously a headset? Damn Xbox One can ONLY use official Microsoft headsets. You can use ANY headset for the PC. Even with a $10 headset it's still about the same price as a Kinect Xbox One.

The PC doesn't need a drive, period. It makes installing the OS MAYBE easier, but otherwise not needed.

Do I need to remind you of RROD? Oh wait that's Xbox 360. The Xbox One has a high failure rate of disc drives.

Rich from reviewtechusa got an Xbox One from day one and ran into issues. Then recently he bought another one and the drive made noise and he had to return it.

Armchair analyst, right, if you think that MS has any chance in any market outside the two i mentioned please do provide the numbers to back that up, because so far global numbers have backed my statement up.

Actually you know what? I will throw MS a bone (pun not intended) and will say that the emerging market of Brazil can go either way, heck it would be totally all in for MS if it weren't for the existence of the huge grey market for PS consoles (In Brazil the PS4 costs way more because Sony hasn't made the proper arrangements that MS did and thus face significantly higher taxes... to go around this issue people just buy their consoles in other countries in the region and bring it w/o paying taxes, this makes the number of consoles properly sold in Brazil unreliable by itself).

Outside of those two to three markets the strengths of the XB1 are pretty much nonexistant, add to that a perceived preference towards Sony brand and that is it. Being dead in the rest of the world doesn't mean that the XB division is dead, it should still get to the 40-50m mark by the end of the console life which should be more than enough specially because this will be a short generation.
