$29.99 w/ $20 off promo code EMCWHWB45, ends 12/24

Been using the base model Obihai Obi100 for a couple years with Google Voice. Works great, nice to have several handsets around the house and it cost nothing to use... 100% free home phone service, works with any phone/phone system.

Got the Obi200 last month, same price and giving the Obi100 to my daughter.

Not sure why I just bought one, I haven't had a land line in years. Oh well, let's see how it goes!

Too bad the WiFi module isn't included and the fact that I don't own a RJ11 phone :p

BTW the higher end model is on sale too, but still twice as much.

Quick question. I bought one because I want one line. Are you guys buying two for two lines or just one for you and a gift?

You can have up to 4 different VOIP lines on the 200, just all connected through one actual "real" phone.

I use Ring.to and have 3 lines on one login account with them and will be using that with a desk phone around the office. Nice to have a "real" speakerphone with big keypad sometimes.

(bought the 2nd one for a vacation house)

Oohhh, thank you. I planned on only using the GV feature of that phone with E911 service but if it can use all those others concurrently, I will definitely look into it.

The big question I can't figure out the answer to is:

How do you choose the outgoing phone line when it's all tied to one actual "real phone".

Some people have indicated you can use a prefix when dialing out to specify which # to call from, but I'm still waiting on clarity about that from the Ring.to forums.

Either way, my main use is having the incoming calls from multiple lines all come to the one Obi device/phone, so I know that part will be great.

OBI + Voip.ms service is great. Costs us around $30/year for home phone service. $0.99/month for a phone line number and 1 cent per minute. They also have a $4.95 for 3500 min per month which should cover even heavy home phone users - we just don't hit the usage point to make it worth it for us.

Just got this hooked up today with Google Voice, it works great. Sound is crystal clear on the $5 phone I got to test it with. Very impressed.

Agree.
Very nice to use.

I have a nice Panasonic desk phone working with it and the quality is simply stellar.

I'm most impressed with how it's improved over the years (VOIP) - No echo, no lag -- Remarkably high quality.

Just missed this. As a result this will be the first year I haven't ordered anything from newegg since 2001.

Why not use Google Voice?

Why not use Google Voice?

VOIP.ms has a very good reputation from what I've seen. I can see the advantage to going with a stable, dedicated VOIP service rather than Google Voice, which isn't a dedicated service and is subject to change at any time (like when they broke GrooVe IP support). VOIP.ms also bundles E911 service which GV does not provide at all, though you can still get it with a separate service.

Just configured with Google voice, but where's my phone number? There's no option for it.
Is my number the 9 digit "Obi no." ? Update:Just tried it. Didn't work.
Also tried to call my cellphone. "Cannot complete call".
Update: Figured it out. Google Voice was not completely set up. Had to enter my mobile number to initiate the new number process. I wonder if I can now get rid of my mobile phone or does GV still need that mobile number for the Obi to continue work??
